아파트 커뮤니티 공간 디자인에 나타난 크리스토퍼 알렉산더의 패턴언어 이론과 적용에 관한 연구

Today, apartments in Korea came to be supplied in quantity through rapid economic development and industrialization in 1960s, and residential environment came to be as desolate residential space by becoming that residential environment came to lose enlivened exchange such as severance with neighbors, monotonous and monolithic type etc. As results, it caused social problems such as human alienation phenomenon, lack of community consciousness etc, and as society developed, improvement of income and the standard of living of people brought changes of lifestyle and values. These changes came to require residential environments that can give qualitative enhancement of pleasant life. And according to that, apartments of large construction firms suggested various alternatives to increase value of life by applying new concepts to enjoy leisure and cultures in residence by planning community facilities as differentiated sales strategies. However, these efforts were insufficient as alternatives to settle human alienation phenomenon and community consciousness, and it was concentrated on securing external space community facilities by focusing residential environments improvement. This thesis is to suggest community space to fulfill necessity and demands of users with the purpose of community vitalization between neighbors for ultimate problems solving of apartment in Korea, and as one of analytic design for space plan, is to apply Christopher Alexander’s pattern language theory to apartment environments of Korea. Pattern of Alexander is language for behavioral pattern of human to make environments as natural and organic unity which occurs frequently in human environments, and this is environmental design language in physical and psychological daily life which occurs stereotypically in the environments of human. As methodology of this study, this pattern language is classified as physical, environmental, psychological, active and accidental community design methods, and it was analyzed by substituting five community design methods in current apartment environments. As results of study, there were many cases to apply pattern language as community design methodology as community consciousness increased, but in conclusion, factors of environmental community and active community for apartment’s environments mentioned above take great importance. These results are insufficient for design method for community vitalization largely, and to solve ultimate purpose, it should be evenly applied the design method for community that induces accidental meeting and psychological community between neighbors.
As mentioned above, it is expected that this thesis would help to apply pattern language of Christopher Alexander as design method for community vitalization in apartment’s environments and seek design concept to plan community space for the people who live in the same apartment.
In this project, by applying coincidence of flow and uncertainty of program, coincidence of flow would be seen through cross of eyes and uncertainty of program would induce communication mutually through reiteration of working space and working space, working space and common use space, and common use space and common use space. By entering industrial age, concern for creative class has been increasing gradually. Therefore, it should be done active discussions and researches for design methods of office space to support more effective performance and comprehend characteristics of these.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 우리나라 아파트는 1960년대 급속한 경제발전과 산업화를 통하여 대량으로 공급되었고, 그로 인해 주거환경이 단조롭고 획일적인 유형, 옥외 공간의 부족, 이웃과의 단절 등으로 생동감 있는 교류를 상실하게 되어 이웃과 더불어 살기보다는 개인이 먼저 앞서는 삭막한 주거 공간으로 자리 잡게 되었다. 그 결과 인간소외 현상과 공동체 의식 결여 등 사회적 문제를 야기 시켰고, 사회가 발전되며 사람들의 소득과 생활수준 향상은 여가시간에 대한 가치관과 라이프스타일의 변화를 가져왔다.
이러한 변화는 보다 쾌적한 삶의 질적 향상을 지원해 줄 수 있는 주거환경을 요구하게 되었고, 그에 따라 1990년대부터 대규모 건설사 아파트들은 차별화된 판매 전략으로 커뮤니티 시설을 계획하여 주거 안에서 여가, 문화를 즐길 수 있도록 새로운 주거환경의 개념을 적용해 삶의 가치를 증진시키기 위한 다양한 대안들을 내놓았다.
하지만, 이러한 변화는 아파트가 가져온 인간소외 현상과 공동체 의식 해결에 대한 대안으로 부족하였고, 주거 환경개선에 집중하여 외부 공간 커뮤니티 시설 확보에 치중되었다. 본 논문은 우리나라 아파트가 가지고 있는 궁극적 문제해결을 위한 이웃 간의 커뮤니티 활성화를 목적으로 사용자 요구와 필요에 충족하는 커뮤니티 공간을 제안하는 것이며, 커뮤니티 활성화를 위한 공간 계획에 있어 분석적 설계의 하나로 크리스토퍼 알렉산더의 패턴언어 이론을 우리나라 아파트 환경에 적용하는 것이다.
알렉산더의 패턴은 인간의 환경에 빈번히 일어나는 자연스럽고 유기적인 통일체로서의 환경을 만들기 위한 인간의 행태패턴에 대한 언어이며 이는 인간이 살아가는 환경 속에서 전형적으로 일어나는 물리적이고 심리적인 일상속의 환경 디자인 언어이다. 본 연구의 방법론으로 이러한 패턴언어는 물리적, 환경적, 심리적, 활동적, 우연적 커뮤니티 설계방법으로 분류되고, 현재 아파트 환경 안에서의 5가지 커뮤니티 설계방법을 대입하여 분석하였다.
연구 결과, 아파트 환경이 변화되면서 커뮤니티 의식이 커지며 커뮤니티 설계방법론으로 패턴언어가 적용된 사례는 많았지만, 앞서 말한 아파트 환경에 대한 환경적 커뮤니티와 활동적 커뮤니티의 요소가 많은 비중을 차지한다는 결론을 내렸다. 이러한 결과는 커뮤니티 활성화를 위한 설계방법으로 많이 부족하며, 궁극적인 목적을 해결하기 위해서 이웃 간의 심리적 커뮤니티와 우연적 만남을 유도하는 커뮤니티에 관한 설계방법이 고루 적용되어야 한다.
이상 본 논문은 아파트 환경에서 커뮤니티 활성화를 위한 설계방법으로 크리스토퍼 알렉산더의 패턴언어를 적용하여 보고, 같은 아파트 안에 살고 있는 사람들을 위한 커뮤니티 공간계획에 있어 디자인 개념을 모색하는데 도움이 될 수 있기를 기대한다.
