To this day, Jane Austen`s novel has been evaluated only by a limited single view, that of the West European Countries. But from a different point of view, we can see in her `domestic novel` wide range of imperialistic culture which was prevalent in the eighteenth and nineteenth century of England. This paper aims to examine the imperialistic influences as well as its elements in one of Austen`s novel, Mansfield Park. Antigua, the overseas colony in which the patrirch of Betram family runs plantation, is a very important frame in Mansfield Park, and several imperialistic elements is derived from this point. First, we can see the imperialist ideology in which the metropolitan domestic world is entirely cut off from the outside imperialistic power. Whereas men take sole possession of the latter, the former is a proper, `feminine` area idealized by the men. Secondly, we can see the losing of patriarchal authonty in those days of England, caused by their frequent absence for the overseas imperialistic activities. Men establishes controllable `ideal woman` and `ideal female virtue`, and compel the obedience from the women in their homes, not only to get over their lost power but also to prevent from women`s sexual disturbances during their absence. Thirdly, we can analogize an obedient colonist who can internalize imperialist`s values, through the process of Fanny`s adaptation to Mansfield life. Fanny, the heroine of Mansfield Park, entirely accepts female virtue and morality that Sir Thomas suggested, and thereby receives much recognition from him. The imperialist male power completely seperates women in their own `domestic` area, and forces them to follow the model, proper and easy `to govern` in the control of both women and colony. In this sense, Fanny can be said as an ideal female type who, though passive, complies with the request of imperialist-patriarch`s absolute power.
