This thesis is a compilation of materials from medical books published in the 16th and 17th centuries, and after selecting 15 types of materials with excellent typefaces. The purpose of this study is to supplement the basic material for the changing history of Hangeul chirography by comparatively analyzing the layout and letter arrangement of the plate type, the arrangement of lines by line, the brushing of consonants and vowels, the beauty of a single character conclusion. The results can be summarized as follows. Based on the bibliographic list of 15 medical books (3 books in the 16th century, 9 books in the 17th century, and 3 books in the 17th century to the beginning of the 18th century), the calligraphic elements of the typeface were presented in a table and studied. First, Plate composition and the beauty of line-by-line arrangement. Since the 16th century, the Hangul-Unhaemun has been placed one character lower than the original Chinese text, and the original Chinese text and the Hangul-Unhaemun have been written in a certain line, so the board layout is extremely regular. Although the space between the letters was changed, the lines between the lines were orderly, giving a neat aesthetic feeling. About 90% of Hangeul characters are Jeongjache, and 100% of Chinese fonts are HaeseoChe that matches Hangul. In the case of line-by-line grammar, as a result of identifying the central axis based on the outer shape of a single character, it was found that about 90% of the characters in the 16th century, 73% in the 17th century, and 38% in the 18th century were square or wide horizontal letter. From 『Guhwangchwalyo』 published in the middle of the 17th century, the characteristic of a rectangle in which the central axis is partially shifted to the right vertical stroke [ㅣ] begins to appear, but most of them show a square shape like Chinese characters. Three kinds of 17th century 『ByukOnSinBangUnHae』 『GuHwangBoYuBang』 『UnHaeNapYakJungChiBang』 and 18th century 『ChiJongBiBangBuUnHae』 is a calligraphy style with beauty&elegance and majesty, among these 『UnHaeNapYakJungChiBang』 is an excellent typeface with tight and regular letter spacing. Second, The beauty of brush strokes of consonants and vowels. In the case of consonants, since the 16th century there are changes in the thickness and size of the part that raises the brush and the brush stroke method when the brush is placed, depending on the position of the horizontal and vertical images and consonants. The beginning of the horizontal and vertical strokes is a square brush type, but the ending is a circle brush type, so it has a soft and strong aesthetic sense. The change in the direction of brush began in the mid-17th century in 『ByukOnSinBangUnHae』, where the horizontal strokes were raised to the right rather than the left, and the vertical strokes from ‘マ’ to ‘ㄱ’ were tilted inward, and it became common thereafter. Since the 18th century, the standardized characteristics of Gung(court) font are few except for the letter ‘ㅅ’. Third, the beauty of a single character conclusion. 512 letters consisting of innitial·middle consonants, initialㆍmiddleㆍfinal consonants, and Byeongseo ‘ㅅ’ used in 15 types of medical books were selected and analyzed based on the 'symmetry, balance, and transformation principle' of the letters. As for the size of consonants and vowels, the contrast between the left and right sizes was changed by making the vowels larger. The position of the consonants was balanced by placing them in the center of the vowels. Byeongseo letters balanced the horizontal, vertical, and event of the consonants so that they would look visually the same, but the indirect letters ‘ㅅㆍㅂ’ became largely independent from the 17th century on the left. It became common that the final consonants width of the seven strokes ‘ㄱㄴㄷㄹㅁㅂㅇ’ excluding the ‘ㅅ’ character less than the width of the vowel since the 17th century. For ‘ㄷㆍㄹ’ with two or more horizontal strokes of the the final consonants, By varying the width and length, the blank space is displayed in a variable way. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the manuscripts of medical books were universalized with a new formative system, away from the shape close to the figure in the early days of the creation of Hunminjeongeum, and the value of research in that they be came the formative source of the GungChe manuscripts and Panbon library formed after the 18th century. The simplified literature of medical books for practical use are stored in various domestic and foreign collections. It is expected that various studies will be discussed in terms of artistic aspects in addition to practicality by excavating portable editions, local editions, and overseas editions.
