The purpose of this study is to show accurate chronological proposition of attached circular rim vessel and black burnished - long necked jar as using the measuring value. Existing studies of attached circular rim vessel-culture have been related measuring values of bronze tool type which have detailed chronology.
The other side, the type pottery have not detailed chronology. Using the shape and measuring values, many scholars have been concentrated upon typology and it also focused upon demic diffusion stage with characteristic in Korea peninsula. So, In this study, I compared territory of Gojosun period stage which it has been supposed an era of attached circular rim vessel culture and it stage in Korea peninsula.
At first, I set the site in Geum river basin and largely devided 4 territory.
Next, Using the attached circular rim vessel and black burnished pottery, I set up the chronology of attached circular rim vessel culture. The vessel is classified type Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ by the largest circumference and highest height rate.
Each type is confirmed that Ⅰ-Ⅱ-Ⅲ on epoch changes. The pottery is classified type A, B, C by the largest circumference and highest height rate. Each type is confirmed of B-C-A on period changes.
I compared typology of vessel and pottery with existing that a result of Bronze tools study.
Based on typology idea, I considered attached circular rim vessel - culture unfolding pattern with Lower, Middle, Upper on 3period.
The Lower period was the age when sporadically flowed Geum river basin, because of Yeun dynasty(chinese ancient nation)'s invasion into Yo-seo region. Excepting the A-san gulf, dwellings and tombs have been appeared ‘가’ type and ‘나’ type in all Geum river basin, inland of Jeon-buk province. The ‘가’ type dwellings have been distributed that were founded ‘나’ type dwellings and tombs sites in basis. It is characteristic. The ‘가’ type dwellings were supposed that was opposed to Songgukri-culture as aboriginality. The ‘나’ type dwellings were supposed moveable-protected settlement through the distinctive feature of location and burned dwellings.
In the dwellings and tombs of type 나, attached - circular rim vessels of TypeⅠ are appeared and the black burnished - long necked jars of Type B and Type C are appeared. In the case of the burial type, stone covered wooden coffin burials are discovered on the lower Geum river and wooden coffin tombs are discovered only in the inland area of the Jeonbuk Province. The aspect of a assemblage is a feature of the coffin tombs which are in the Jeonbuk Province. Through the poorness of burial goods at the stone covered wooden coffin burials and wooden coffin tombs, the cultural group which used circular attached- circular rim vessels seems to have been the communal society which was not specialized yet.
The terminus post quem of circular attached - circular rim vessel culture is estimated in the latter half of B. C 5th Century based on the feature of Type 가, the result of radiocarbon dating and the point of time that 'Yeon' Dynasty started extending to Yoseo region. And the terminus ante quem is the latter half of B. C 4th Century according to the type of circular attached- circular rim vessels and black burnished - long necked jars.
In view of that the migrant group had not centralized, the migrant group, which had the aspect of a assemblage, coexisted with native groups with a definite cultural boundary.
The middle is the stage that the drifting people from the Gojosun region started going southward due to the extending of Jin-gae from Yeon Dynasty to Yodong region. Type Ⅱ circular attached- circular rim vessels were appeared, and B·C·D Type black burnished - long necked jars were appeared at the middle. Stone covered wooden coffin burials and wooden coffin tombs were appeared and the main center of each region, where many bronze ceremonial implements like bronze mirrors and bamboo-shaped bronze implements are buried, started showing up. Stone covered wooden coffin burials was interpreted into powerful people's tombs because many bronze ceremonial implements were buried and potteries were bigger than things which were found in wooden coffin tombs. Based on the point of time that Jin-gae from Yeon Dynasty extended to east and the type of attached- circular rim vessels and black burnished - long necked jars, the middle was dated from at the beginning of B. C 3th century to at the end of B. C 3th century.
The upper, the point of time that King Jun in Gija-Josun moved southward by the establishment of Wiman-Josun, was a stage to reorganize native groups. Attached- circular rim vessels were ⅢType and black burnished - long necked jars were C Type and A type. And glass beads and iron implements were started burying in tombs. In the case of the burial type, wooden coffin tombs prevailed and were used more for powerful people's tombs by comparison with the middle. And, at Galdong site, wooden compartment tomb appeared for the first time. At upper, there was the aspect of acculturation with native groups through the black burnished pottery, which was similar to the pottery shape of the red burnished pottery appeared at Galdong site and Wonbuk-ri site. In view of the high quality of the iron culture and wooden compartment tomb, this aspect of acculturation seems to have reorganized native groups and this reorganization was not just the substitution of inhabitants but the reorganization of the social structure. The upper was estimated from at the beginning of B. C 2 to at the end of B. C 2 based on the point of time that King Jun in Gija-Josun moved southward and the type of circular attached- circular rim vessels and black burnished - long necked jars.
