It is well known that Arnold schonberg originated the most objective and logical tone, and with a constant study came to create a new mode which is called a music of twelve notes.
This music of twelve notes has been developed as the central method of a modern music. A. Webern the composer of 12 tone music led A. Schoenberg's 12 tune music to a new road of music.
So, The main purpose of this study is to extend one's understanding of A. Webern's musical art and his compositional technique through the analysis of his concerto for 9 lnstruments, op.24 (1935).
The Concerto, op.24 for flute, oboe, clarient, horn, trumpet, trombone, violin, viola, and piano written in celebration of Schoenberg's sixtieth birthday, was originally to have been a solo concerto for piano and eight instrument. The structual form of the 1st movement of concerto op.24 is based on the sonata form and here the trichord is used as a basic pattern of 4 group attained from original, inversion, retrograde and retrograde-inversion. The basic structure of tone row, interval figures and rhythm organized with trichord as one unit and used retrag rade in the musical factors to provide unity in the piece. Regarding orchestration, piano is used constantly while 8 instruments play the trichord chiefly in solo to give changes in tone color. Indynamics, f and ff is mainly used and concerning register, B (measune 35, piano ; C#)which is the central part of the composition comes out between the higest note A (measure 20, fluet ; B♭)and the highest note of A' (measure 60, violin ; D)to balance the both sides. In tempo ritardando is used in one or two measure units, and ♩=50, and ♩=80 appears frequently in turns.
According to the resultes mentioned above, concerto op.24 is composed of sounds having purpose of themselves and have unity harmony by using them systematically and schematically. And concerto op.24, A. Webern realized the conciseness, the simplicity of harmony and the clearness of structure.
