This study is to find out a suggestive point for improvement of special aptitude education by comparing and analysing the teachers and parents of students' recognition about operation and effect of after-school hours special aptitude education executed in the present elementary school.
For accomplishing the purpose of this study, it is to divide into general recognition state, formulating a plan, operation effect, problem point and improving point of special aptitude education activity. It is to how the teachers and parents of students' recognition and analyze whether the significant difference between groups and between variables.
The result of this study is as follows.
First, there is no difference by variables in the recognition about purpose and necessity of the special aptitude education activity. That is, it recognized 'improvement of capacity and ability' as an important purpose and most of teachers recognized that the special aptitude education activity was helpful to children's capacity and aptitude development. By the recognition above, this is equal to the target of education of the elementary school and original purpose of special aptitude education operation, it should be prepared for continuous supply plan systematically in oder that the special aptitude education activity can operate as original purpose.
Second, there is significant difference between variables in the degree that the parents of students expense personal school expenses and feel borden in personal school expenses. The parents in the public school feel burden little more than ones in the private school about the personal school expenses. In general, it showed that the parents in the private school who lived in the family environment better also felt a lot of burden. As for the recognition about place of the special aptitude education activity, the students hoped the special aptitude education which was executed in the school than the private academy. So the school have to activate the special aptitude education activity with variety of programs in order to decrease excessive the personal school expenses by attending a lecture in the private academy and make public education normalize.
Third, there is no significant difference between two groups in the recognition about making a plan. Both teachers and parents of students recognized that it should be operated by the school steering committee and mutual conference. So, The school steering committee' full activity is required in order that the parents of students' various opinion may be reflected in the school education by enlarging the parents of students' participating chance to the school education than one-sided drive of the school.
Also, there is no significant difference between two groups in the recognition of the guidance teacher in charge of the special aptitude, and two groups preferred to the teacher with regular qualification. For this, teacher bank system, securing qualified teacher with excellent skill and guidance ability by the Office of Education, should be operated. And it needs the administrational support which supplies the able teachers who combine character and leadership.
Fourth, as for the recognition about a curriculum, there is significant between groups and between variables in the necessity of creating a lecture of the parents of students, a nursery program and opening a supplementary lesson part. It showed that the parents of a middle-class citizen who relatively enjoy the stabilization livelihood felt the necessity of creating a lecture for self-development. It needs systematic device in order that the school may perform a center function of the local education as a field of lifelong education by developing the nursery program for dual-income parents' children and by opening a supplementary lesson part for the parents of students who don't supplement their children's insufficient study because of shortage of the time by the dual-income.
Fifth, there is no significant difference between groups and between variables in the recognition of operating effect. The parents of students showed positive reaction effects that the special aptitude education activity brought expansion effect in hobby and special ability, and the children's living attitude are changed, and autonomy and creativity are enlarged, and the personal school expenses are decreased. So, the education authorities have to prepare the special aptitude education full charge part and would give anything for research and support.
Sixth, there is significant difference between groups of the teachers and parents of students in the recognition about the problem and reform measure. The teachers point out the shortage of special aptitude full charge classroom as the troubles but the parents of students point out shortage of inventive program and of excellent teachers. For that, the education authorities have to invest more in preparing the exclusive classrooms using the idle classrooms and develop the inventive program.
Also, most of the special aptitude education guidance teachers didn't take study and training for reeducation because they are the visiting teachers from the outside. For this, the systematical study and training institute needs.
