장애통합교육에 대한 장애아통합보육시설과 일반보육시설 종사자의 인식차이 = Difference in Employees' Recognition between Integrated Child Care Facilities and General Child Care Facilities on Disability Inclusive Education
For the successful inclusive education for young children with disabilities, this study examines recognition of employees for integrated child care facilities and employees for general child care facilities, which are the main agents of disability inclusive education, and surveys and compares employees' recognition and age according to the position in charge, teaching-profession career for child care facilities, academic background, difference according to the appearance of experiencing inclusive education, appearance of inclusive-education training (seminar, workshop, training, etc.), and the difference according to form of the child care center where they work. Thus, the aim is to examine a plan for vitalizing disability inclusive education and to suggest a direction for improvement.
Accordingly, this study was carried out in order to offer basic data in forming employee recognition on disability inclusive education and to be conducive to further realizing inclusive education.
To closely examine the above research problem, a questionnaire survey was carried out on 203 people of 27 integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities and 12 general child care facilities targeting the employees of the integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities and the employees of the general child care facilities located in the Seoul area.
First, the difference in the concept of integration on inclusive education for young children with disabilities according to institution and in recognition on support for integrated child care and education was indicated to be higher in the integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities than the general child care facilities. Here a statistically significant result was indicated.
As for the results of employees' recognition on inclusive education for young children with disabilities according to career, an inclusive concept was being recognized positively as a whole. Even support for integrated child care and education was felt to be importance as a whole. Employees of 7 to 10 years had more positive recognition and importance on the inclusive education for young children with disabilities.
As for the results of the recognition on the inclusive education for young children with disabilities and of the recognition on necessity of support for the integrated child care and education, an inclusive concept was recognized positively as a whole. However, the recognition was indicated to be the highest in graduate-school graduates and above and was lowest in others.
As for the results of employees' recognition on inclusive education for young children with disabilities according to the position in charge, both an inclusive concept and support for integrated child care and integrated education were higher in teachers in charge of integrated classes (special teachers in charge of young children with disabilities) than general child care teachers.
As for the results of recognition on the inclusive education for young children with disabilities according to the appearance of the inclusive-education experience and training, high recognition was being indicated as a whole regardless of the appearance of experiencing an inclusive concept and support for integrated child care and integrated education. However, there was higher recognition among employees who had experience of inclusive education and training.
Second, as for the results of comparing recognition on teachers' professionalism according to institution, in case of the inclusive education for young children with disabilities, teacher professionalism on general child care teachers was indicated to be lower than special teachers and disabled-child inclusive teachers in the integrated education for young children with disabilities.
Third, as for the results of employees' recognition on demand for teacher effort according to institution, there was recognition of a need to remove prejudice on handicapped children in both the integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities and general child care facilities.
Fourth, the recognition on conflicting academic expectation and behavioral expectation was shown by the integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities, which had been high as a whole in the recognition on inclusive education for young children with disabilities. However, it was indicated to be higher in the integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities than the general child care facilities in saying that even handicapped children have excellent ability and have often become an example for other general young children.
As a result of this study, the experience caused by academic background and more career experience and the experience of inclusive education and training can be known to have great influence upon recognition of acceptance of handicapped children and upon teaching and to play an important role. Also, employees for general child care facilities and employees for integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities have a low recognition of child care teachers' professionalism. Thus, to further increase the effect of inclusive education, the infrastructure of disabled-child inclusive teachers (special teachers in charge of young children with disabilities) who are lacking at child care facilities will need to be implemented by performing research on support available to give help to enhancement in teachers' professionalism by offering many opportunities for re-education related to general child care teachers' disability inclusive education and developing a training program according to this.
Both the integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities and the general child care facilities have positive recognition on offering an opportunity for integration in saying that integrated child care and education offer diverse interactions in promoting understanding and acceptance on the differences among other people. However, there is even a part thought to likely have a harmful influence upon young children. Thus, there will be a need for research on the integrated program for disabled young children, which can make it favorable even to general young children as well as disabled young children.
In academic and behavioral expectation, a negative result appeared as a whole in the integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities, contrary to the above findings. In case of the integrated child care facilities for young children with disabilities, the higher negative result seemed to appear to owe to the experience of educating disabled young children now than to the general child care facilities, which fail to experience eduction. Research will need to be further performed that examines obstructive and successful factors in disability inclusive education until this result appears.
