This dissertation research about Manchuria KOREAN literature through embryo in early 1930`s and developed as a chapter in one formation in Mid-Late 1930`s. Existing research for Manchuria Korean literature, just researched by Korean modern literature or Korean-Chinese literature as <Literature only ashes>, <Immigration Literature>, <Displaced Literature>, <Korean-Chinese literature before liberation>. In this dissertation, I used in parallel the vocabulary <Manchuria Korean Literature> and <Manchuria Korean Literature chapter>, because the Diaspora Literature was formatted continue the Joseon Culture in Manchuria, at the same time it was founded it`s own Identity and special culture. And this dissertation is get away one step from witch peoples say: <Manchuria Korean Literature> had been founded in Manchu - the Japanese colonial country, so they called it <Manchuria Empire Literature> or <Government-run Culture >. By doing this, I hope to light on the point of achievement – they try to using the niche between <Literature of frontal system> and <Manchuria Korean Literature> had been build up their own Literature chapter.
<Manchuria Korean Literature> had been disappeared by the <Manchuria Empire > - the Japanese Lost the World War Two in 1945, but it still remembered and continued by the writers who came back to Korean society from Manchuria. The writers who came back from Manchuria was called<Return Narrative>, they using their experience and intelligence, release the spirit of space by individual requirements. And the <Manchuria Korean Literature> effected the Korean Society to till 1950-60`s, It`s appeared by the famous literary – AN SU GIL`s activity- who return from Manchuria and go to Vietnam later.
This dissertation is formed 3 key parts- embryo, discovery, development, collapse and reorganization of Korea chapter.
Chapter 2 Start from the establishment of Manchuria Empire in 1931 to the end of 1936, the constituted the discovery and germination period- the literary activities migrants at Longjing witch refer as <North Seoul> by the immigration Koreans, <North Town>and literary coterie magazine<The North>and Analysis with Kang Kyeong-ae literary activity has worked ate the same time. In early 1930`s, Young scholars launched a literary coterie group called <North Town『北鄕』> in Long-Jing. In early creation the group consisting of secondary school teachers organized literary lectures and published the literary coterie <The North>to educate Koreans the history and faced the darkness of colonial rule and appealed build the foundations of second life in Manchuria, and it`s organized by the intellectual class group and their purpose is to improve the national literary and trying to achieve a new culture. They initiated a new literary chapter investigating the identity of Korean migrants by implementing the values of mainstream Joseon syntax while at the same time centering on the different lifestyles of the inhabitants. Around the same time as the movement of <North Town> in the early 1930s, author Kang Kyeong-ae was in the Longjing Ganto. Her literary works generally interconnected Joseon and Manchuria and along with <North Town> contributed significantly to the growth of the early Joseon-Man chu rian literature. However, the distinction between the two is that <North Town> characterized Manchuria as valuable place for a settlement whereas Kang Kyeong-ae depicted Manchuria as an extension of the anti-Japanese independence movement. Kang Kyeon-ae was received her migrant experience to shape the anti-Japanese struggle in Manchuria through literature as well as illustrating the marginalized plight of women during this era.
Chapter 3 prefer for from 1937 the immigration Korean culture center move to the capital of Manchuria Empire-Sinkyong, to 1945-the liberate, <Manson Ilbo> was the immigration commission made with priority given to the literature see chapter formation, development and establishment of the season as korean literature, Manchuria, activities and by the experience of only ashes finding creative communities, personify the work of artists who have the ideology by using national not sealed in and colonial discourse through cracks and gaps to resist noted in a sense of being.
The Sugil recognizes Manchuria as an eternal hometown as a member of the Diaspora group. The method he uses is called ‘Nong-Min-Do (farmer’s way)’ and is a detailed method to view Manchuria as the people’s foundation for life. This method can only be derived from the ‘spirit-of- the-north belief’ Ahn picked up from living in Manchuria as an immigrant for a long time. To Hyun Gyung Joon, Manchuria is nothing but a place where Korean people were watched and controlled against their will as a colony. Therefore, Manchuria is recognized as a place where freedom is restrained and human rights are abused due to Japan’s one-sided colonization. This can be attributed to Hyun Gyung Joon’s personal experiences and what he went through when he immigrated to Manchuria with hopes in the late 1930s as a writer in Korea - the sharp, keen, and cold decisions and analysis he made based on the despair in Manchuria. In the case of Park Gye Joo, Manchuria is interpreted as an area of confusion where Korean people endlessly going through an identity crisis and conflicts. Those who had left their home with hopes and immigrated to Manchuria were not even granted the freedom to return home if they failed to achieve their hopes and dreams. To Park Gye Joo, Manchuria is where he was born, raised, and grew as a writer. In the 1930s, however, as Korean writers began to escape to Manchuria, Park Gye Joo, who was at his prime in Korean as a writer, sought to expose the realities of the Manchuria which also happened to be his hometown and venture into the minds of Korean migrants. This was truly what Park, who was dealing with an identity crisis, had been suffering from consistently. In Kim Chang Gul’s case, Manchuria is depicted in a positive manner as they attempted to cooperate with the locals to defeat the Japanese and be liberated from colonization to grasp freedom. In contrast with Ahn Sugil’s ‘spirit-of-the-north belief’ Kim’s ideology places more emphasis on the collaboration with other ethnic groups to defeat the Japanese and gain independence than the ordeal whilst settling in Manchuria. It is also inseparable with Ahn’s decision to remain in Manchuria while most Manchurian writers were returning to their hometown after Chosun had been liberated.
Chapter 4 attempts to uncover that Korean writers, who returned to Korea between liberation in 1945 to the end of 1960s, utilize their memories from Manchuria to implement the experience in their literary works.
Korean Manchuria literature is written down and passed down through the method of ‘memory’ or ‘remembrance’ through authors who lived in Manchuria. To restate the above, the literature is still in the works of the literary Manchuria Korean chapter of that era. These can be interpreted appropriately through Pierre Nora’s ‘Sites of Memory’ and ‘Realms of Memory’ theories and Maurice Half watch’s ‘Collective Memory’ theory. It is already forgotten in the field of history, but ‘the realm of Manchuria’ can neither disappear nor be forgotten as it is a ‘Site of Memory’. It is also an area of symbolism that surpasses time and space and acts as a ‘collective illusion’ for the literary Manchuria Korean chapter. Through Yeom Sang Seop, Kim Man Sun, and An Sugil’s literary pieces, Manchuria is recollected.
Yeom Sang Seop looks the memories in Manchuria as the dishonor creative in liberation place to tend to cover up the tracks of the past. One step further convergence it was a <national framework> by to go to <cognate> that do meet the <It was a national qualifications> and rehabilitation in Manchulira. For Kim Man Seon as well, Manchuria is perceived as a harsh living space that was for those returning after war. Kim Man Seon recognized the Manchuria Space as return of war victims` rough Place. However, the presence of a return since the addressees is residual and was killed in failed or trying to stay home and failed in the process of settling barbarian as Koreans in Manchuria in the process of alienation and space is recognized as a failed space on the design of their identity at the diaspora. Ahn Soo-kil , After liberation, the experience of only ashes in the experience of the 1950s and 1960s in the case of the identity of the Diaspora for creative modern progress with their second home on Manchuria Korean intellectuals and political divisions in society, who first set to resist the none other than in the consciousness of inner workings. Nothing but the inner workings of the ritual to stand above political divisions in Korean society. For Ahn Soo-kil, Manchuria is the most brilliant Utopia and admire the time space reflects on his shameful past and also to unite the nation, also space for conducting as space to pray. Liberation from colonial rule and secure the political freedom After liberation, various creative in Korean society is memory's epic through the late literary chapter of the time of Manchuria Empire knowing the reality of the Japanese colonial rule and discourse have also contributed to restore provide an important basis.
Manchuria is recognized as an important place for East Asian modern history. Even till this day, Manchuria Korean Literature is passed down and remembered. Therefore, Manchuria Korean Literature should be further studied and researched on a wider scale in the future.
