The study on art furniture combining the window of han-ok, the abstraction of light and color. Focused on the analysis of Variation of Color and Variation of Transparency, which is a work before the doctoral degree request.
The abstraction that appears in the window of the Han-ok is the abstraction of the geometric form shown in the form of the first window and the structure of the space. The facade and the grate of the han-ok represent a geometric abstraction composed of lines and faces. The window of a han-ok creates an abstraction of space by overlapping outer space and inner space, inner space and inner space. The geometric abstraction of a window is a variable abstraction in which the structure of the form and space changes according to the movement of the window. The second is the abstraction of the light and color that the window of the han-ok embeds. When light enters the window, it produces various colors such as white and gray, off-white, and ocher depending on the translucency of the paper. As the window moves, the abstraction of light and color becomes more diverse. The color change of a window is the variable and dynamic abstraction that light and shadow make.
Light is the element that makes color and changes color. Light represents the physical properties of the reflective medium. When light enters the space, it creates space and expresses color and texture. The effects of reflection, transmission, diffusion, projection, etc., change with the movement of light. Light forms a dynamic and dynamic abstraction that changes and forms the plastic elements of space.
This paper consists of 4 chapters.
In Chapter Ⅰ, we describe the background of the study on the window which has the meaning of coexistence and communication, forming space of variability and infinity of space. This study explains the purpose of the study of furniture design of modular concept which has the space and user 's variability and communication possibility by studying space concept of coexistence and communication. I also introduced the research purpose of furniture design reflecting the identity and emotion of Korea.
Chapter II is a theoretical review of abstraction. The first is the abstraction in the window of the Han-ok and the second is the abstraction expressed in light and color. The abstraction of the window by the form and the structure is discussed by the geometric abstraction of the han-ok's pillar, the beam and the window, and the geometric abstraction made by the structure and shape of the grate. The window reflecting light and color discussed the variable abstraction of the window, space and color of light. The abstraction of the window in the furniture design analyzed the case of the shape and the structure of the window and the window in the motif.
The research method is based on the study of the window, light and color of the han-ok. In this paper, we have defined the method and scope of drawing the keywords through the case study and analysis of the abstraction reflected in the window, the contemporary art reflecting the light and color, the contemporary architectural space, and the abstraction in modern furniture design.
Chapter 3 is the process and analysis of the work. First, I found out the process of subjective concept formation of research work from the window of Hanok, the abstraction of light and color. Second, I discussed the objective value and importance of the researcher through his research and works on modular furniture design. During the course of the work, I mentioned about experiments on material and structure that combine acrylic and non-acrylic for the work.
The study has two processes, distinguishing between the way of embracing light and color based on the consideration of light, color and color of han-ok's window
The Variation of Color combines the basic structure of the Korean traditional woodwork with the reinterpretation of proportions and the window of variable and colorful color. The window used for the variation of color is a window made of hand made art, not paper. The window of the street leads the change of color by the light like the color of the paper which is enriched by the jokes of the light. It is a variable module that user can select, install and move. The installed window of the room expresses the overlapping and the molding by the movement. The window of the extended internal space is the partition. The color partition divides the storage space and the nested partition creates a new abstract space by light. The movement of partitions changes the gaps and shadows created by light and color, and the abstract space also changes. The simple lines and proportions of the traditional woods and the innocent natural beauty of the maple trees are minimal beauty. On the other hand, the color change of the window that creates a new abstract space is the beauty of Maximal.
The Variation of Transparency is a shelf made of a combination of vertical and oblique lines in an open window. Transparent variation works constructed by translucent color plates change according to the gaze, provide diversity through the organic movement of space, and are the sculptures that change in the angle and light movement installed in the space.
The research works have artistic, formative, and functional values ​​needed for modern space that changes as art furniture which creates new space in modern space and meets user's various preferences. Disassembly and assembly are possible, and three-dimensional and flat coexist. It gives various visual pleasures in space, and the unit of work is a piece, but the combined completion of the pieces expresses a variable abstraction that changes by light and color.
Chapter IV presents the academic conclusions, the objective implications and the possibility of development as a comprehensive conclusion of this study.
First, it is the discovery of a new material that embodies Korea 's identity. The brilliant No-bang-window and the subtle Astel, which contain Korea's color and beauty, played an important role in completing the researcher's art furniture. It can be found as a new furniture material and expanded as a material of space.
Second, the user-oriented module concept that meets various needs of consumers and the structure of knockdown which is easy to move, store, and install are embodied.
Third, it is an art furniture that reflects the expanded interior space. The internal abstract space has variable storage and shaping functions.
Fourth, it is a sculptural art furniture where two-dimensional and three- dimensional coexist. The combined plates are three-dimensional, but the two-dimensional abstraction which is variable due to the movement of light, color, and visuality gives visual pleasure.
This paper will serve as a basis for researchers' continued research and development possibilities, and will be a proposal for new formality and direction of furniture design.

연구자의 논문은 한옥의 창에 나타난 추상성과 빛과 색의 추상성을 결합한 아트퍼니처(Art Furniture)에 관한 연구이다. 박사학위 청구전 작품인 색의 변주(變奏, Variation of Color)와 투명의 변주(變奏, Variation of Transparency)에 대한 분석을 중심으로 했다.
한옥의 창에 나타나는 추상성은 첫째 창의 형태와 공간의 구조에 나타난 기하학적 형태의 추상성이다. 한옥의 입면과 창살은 선과 면으로 구성된 기하학적 추상성을 표현한다. 한옥의 창은 외부 공간과 내부 공간, 내부 공간과 내부 공간의 중첩으로 공간의 추상성을 만든다. 창의 기하학적 추상성은 창의 움직임에 따라 형태와 공간의 구조가 변하는 가변적인 추상성이다. 둘째는 한옥의 창이 담아내는 빛과 색의 추상성이다. 창에 빛이 유입되면 창호지의 반투명성에 따라 흰색과 회색, 미색, 황토색 등 다양한 색채를 연출한다. 창의 움직임에 따라 빛과 색의 추상성은 더욱 다양해진다. 창의 색채 변화는 빛과 그림자가 만드는 가변적이고 동적인 추상성이다.
빛은 색을 만들고 색을 변화시키는 요소이다. 빛은 반사되는 매체의 물성을 표현한다. 빛이 공간에 유입되면 빛은 공간을 만들고 색과 질감을 표현한다. 빛의 움직임에 따라 반사, 투과, 확산, 투영 등의 효과는 변한다. 빛은 공간의 조형 요소를 구성함과 동시에 변화시키는 가변적이고 동적인 추상성을 형성한다.
본 논문은 4장으로 구성이 된다.
제Ⅰ장에서는 공간의 가변성과 무형성의 공간을 형성하고 공존과 소통의 의미를 가지는 창에 대한 연구배경을 기술했다. 창의 공존과 소통의 공간 개념을 연구하여 본 연구 작품이 공간과 사용자의 가변성과 소통 가능성이 있는 모듈 개념의 가구디자인이란 연구 목적을 설명했다. 또한 한국의 정서와 색을 담아 정체성을 반영한 가구디자인의 연구 목적을 소개했다.
연구방법은 한옥의 창(窓), 빛과 색에 대한 연구를 기반으로 한다. 창에 나타난 추상성과 빛과 색을 반영한 현대미술과 현대 건축 공간, 현대 가구디자인에 나타난 추상성에 대한 사례연구와 분석을 통해 키워드를 도출하여 작품에 반영한 방법과 범위를 지정했다.
제Ⅱ장은 추상성에 대한 이론적 고찰이다. 첫째 한옥의 창에 나타난 추상성과 둘째 빛과 색으로 표현한 추상성으로 분류했다. 형태와 구조에 의한 창의 추상성은 한옥의 기둥과 보, 창이 만드는 입면의 기하학적 추상성과 창살의 구조와 형태가 만든 기하학적 추상성으로 논한다. 빛과 색을 반영한 창은 빛이 만드는 창과 공간, 색의 가변적인 추상성에 대해 논하였다. 가구디자인에 나타난 창의 추상성은 창과 창살의 형태와 구조를 모티브로 한 사례를 분석했다.
연구 작품에 반영된 조형적 요소는 빛과 색이다. 빛과 색의 조형적 연구를 위해 첫째 빛과 색으로 표현한 현대 미술인 라이트 아트에 나타난 추상성, 둘째 현대 건축 공간에 나타난 추상성, 셋째 가구디자인에 나타난 추상성에 대한 사례 연구를 했다. 사례연구에 나타난 추상적 표현요소에 대한 분석을 했다.
제 Ⅲ장은 연구 작품의 진행과정과 분석이다. 첫째는 연구 작품의 주관적 개념형성 과정을 한옥의 창, 빛과 색의 추상성에서 찾아냈다. 둘째는 연구자의 모듈가구 디자인에 대한 논문 연구와 작품을 통해 객관적 가치와 중요성을 논했다. 작품의 진행과정에는 작품을 위해 선행 연구한 노방과 아크릴을 결합한 재료와 구조에 대한 실험에 관한 내용을 언급했다.
연구 작품은 한옥의 창, 빛과 색에 대한 고찰을 기반으로 빛과 색을 담아내는 방법과 소재의 차이로 구별하여 두 개의 프로세스를 가진다.
색의 변주(變奏, Variation of Color)는 한국 전통의 목가구와 비례를 재해석한 기본 구조와, 가변적이고 다채로운 색의 창을 결합했다. 색의 변주에 사용한 창은 창호지가 아닌 수공예로 제작한 노방창이다. 노방창은 빛의 농담으로 풍부해진 창호지의 색감처럼 빛으로 색의 변화를 주도한다. 노방창은사용자가 선택하고 설치, 이동이 가능한 가변적인 모듈이다. 설치된 노방창은 움직임에 의해 가변적인 중첩과 조형을 표현한다. 확장된 내부공간의 노방창은 파티션이다. 색의 파티션은 수납공간을 분할하고 중첩된 파티션은 빛에 의해 새로운 추상적 공간을 만든다. 파티션의 움직임으로 빛과 색이 만드는 틈과 그림자는 변하고 추상적 공간도 변한다. 전통 목가구인 장과 찬탁의 간결한 선과 비례, 단풍나무에서 느껴지는 순결한 자연미는 미니멀(Minimal)한 아름다움이다. 반면에 새로운 추상적 공간을 만들어내는 노방창의 색채 변화는 맥시멀(Maximal)한 아름다움이다.
투명의 변주(變奏, Variation of Transparency)는 열린 창의 수직선과 사선의 결합 구조로 만든 선반이다. 반투명한 색채의 판으로 구축된 투명의 변주 작품은 시선에 따라 변화하고, 공간의 유기적인 동선을 통해 다양성을 제공하며, 공간에 설치한 각도와 빛의 움직임에 변하는 조형물이다.
연구 작품은 현대 건축 공간에 새로운 공간을 창출하고 사용자의 다양한 기호를 충족시키는 아트퍼니처(Art Furniture)로서 변화하는 현대 공간에 필요한 예술적, 조형적, 기능적 가치가 있다. 해체와 조립이 가능하고 입체와 평면이 공존한다. 공간에서 다양한 시각적인 즐거움을 주고 작품의 단위는 하나의 조각이지만 그 조각들의 결합된 완성은 빛과 색에 의해 변하는 가변적인 추상성을 표현한다.
제Ⅳ장은 본 연구의 종합적인 결론으로 학문적인 주관적, 객관적 의의와 발전 가능성에 대해 제시했다.
첫째, 한국의 정체성을 담은 새로운 물성의 발견이다. 한국의 색과 미를 담고 있는 화려한 노방창과 은근한 아스텔은 연구자의 아트퍼니처를 완성하는데 중요한 역할을 했다. 새로운 가구 재료로서의 가치를 발견하고 나아가 공간의 재료로써 확장될 수 있다.
둘째, 소비자의 다양한 욕구를 충족시키는 사용자 중심의 모듈개념과 이동과 보관 및 설치가 용이한 넉 다운(Knock-Down)의 구조를 반영하여 실용미를 구체화 하였다.
셋째, 확장된 내부의 추상적 공간을 반영한 아트퍼니처이다. 내부의 추상적 공간은 가변적인 수납과 조형의 기능을 가진다.
넷째, 2차원과 3차원이 공존하는 조각적인 아트퍼니처이다. 결합된 판들은 입체이지만 빛과 색, 시각의 움직임에 의해 가변적인 2차원의 추상성이 나타나 시각적인 즐거움을 준다.
본 논문은 연구자의 지속적인 작품연구와 발전 가능성의 기반이 되고 가구디자인의 새로운 조형성과 방향에 대한 제안이 될 것이다.
