South Korea is currently dealing with severe academic inflation. Many economists believe that increasing the employment rate of high school graduates is essential to addressing the issue of academic inflation. To do this, the quality of educational services must be raised. Specialized high schools were established for job seekers those who want to work after graduated from high school and trained for suitable for industrial sites where they want to work. However, in recent years, the employment rate of specialised high schools has decreased. This study was conducted to evaluate the education services quality and the career preparation practises in specialised high schools to determine whether high-quality educational services have a positive effect on students' career preparation practises. Furthermore, the effect of major flow, major satisfaction, and career decision making self-efficacy as mediators of the relationship between the educational service quality and the career preparation behaviour were investigated. According to the present state of specialised high schools in Korea, the survey was done with 474 students. SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22 were used for statistical analysis. For analysis and validation, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, structural regression model fit validation, bootstrap validation, and phantom variable validation were performed.
The study's findings are listed below. First, after analysing whether there is a direct relationship between the educational service quality of specialised high schools, the major flow, the major satisfaction, the career decision making self-efficacy, the career preparation behavior, it was determined that educational service quality has a direct relationship with the major flow, the major satisfaction, and the career decision making self-efficacy. There was found to be no direct effect on the career preparation behavior. In analysing whether there was a direct relationship between the major flow, the major satisfaction, the career decision making self-efficacy, and the career preparation behaviour in specialised high schools, it was determined that there was a direct relationship between the career decision making self-efficacy and the career preparation behaviour, as well as between the major satisfaction and the career preparation behaviour. However, there was found to be no direct relationship between the major flow and the career preparation behaviour.
Second, as a result of analysing whether there are indirect effects between the educational service quality, major flow, major satisfaction, career decision making self-efficacy, and career preparation behavior in specialised high schools, there are a total of eight direct and indirect paths between each variable in the final structural regression model, and they are all significant in terms of the total effect. There was a total of five mediating effect pathways in the relationship between "Educational Service Quality and Career Preparation Behavior." The path with the greatest mediating effect was 'educational service quality → satisfaction with major → self-efficacy in career decision → career preparation behavior', with B=.222 (p<.001). Two mediating effect pathways were found in the relationship between "major flow and career preparation behaviour." The path with the greatest mediating effect was ‘major flow → major satisfaction → career preparation behavior’, with B=.185 (p<.01). One path of mediating effect appeared in the relationship between "major satisfaction and career preparation behaviour" This was shown as 'major satisfaction → career decision making self-efficacy → career preparation behavior', B=.244 (p<.01).
Third, when examining the analysis of groups by gender, region, and sector, it was discovered that the effect on the path between groups differed based on gender, region, and sector. The effect of the educational service quality on the major flow found to be greater for male students than for female students, it was discovered that the effect of the educational service quality on the major satisfaction was greater for male students than for female students, the effect of major flow on the major satisfaction was found to be greater for female than male students, the effect of major satisfaction on the career decision making self-efficacy was found to be grater for male students than for female students. By region, paths from the major flow to the major satisfaction and from the major satisfaction to the career preparation behaviour were higher for students from the capital region than those from non-capital regions, the path from the educational service quality to the major flow, from the educational service quality to the major satisfaction, from the educational service quality to the career decision making self-efficacy, and from the career decision making self-efficacy to the career preparation was higher for non-capital region students than for capital region students. According to the sector, the major flow is further improved in the following order: Technical School > Agriculture and Life Industry School > Business/Information School > Home Economics School > Fisheries and Shipping School, even though the quality of educational services is equally high across all sectors. Students' overall major satisfaction is further increased in the following order: Agriculture and Life Industry School > Fisheries and Shipping School > Technical School > Business/Information School > Home Economics School, even though the quality of educational services is the same across the sector. The major satisfaction increased even more in the following order: Business/Information School > Home Economics School > Fisheries and Shipping School > Technical School > Agriculture and Life Industry School, even though the major flow is equally high across all sectors. The Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy increased even more in the following order: Fisheries and Shipping School > Technical School > Home economics School > business/information School, even though the major satisfaction is equally high across all sectors. The Career preparation behavior improved more in the home economics School than in the Business/information School, even though the major satisfaction level is equally high across all sectors. It can be seen that the career preparation behavior is improved more in the following order: the Agriculture and Life Industry School > Technical School > Business/information School, even though the Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy level is equally high across all sectors.
According to this study, the career preparation behaviour is not directly influenced by the educational service quality of specialised high schools but, there is a complete mediating effect that the major satisfaction and the career decision making self-efficacy, which are variables that have a significant impact on the career preparation behaviour.
Additionally, the quality of education services can be interpreted as a crucial variable for enhancing the career preparation behaviour because it has a substantial effect on the major flow, a variable that has a substantial effect on major satisfaction. This is because the quality of education service has a significant effect on the major flow. To improve the employment rate through the career preparation behaviour which is a specific and practical action for students in specialised high schools, the students as education consumers, it can be said they are required to find specific and varied improvement strategies which can enhance not only the quality of education service but also the major flow, the major satisfaction, and the career decision making self-Efficacy.
