피부색과 어울리는 색상에 대한 이론적 고찰 = Theoretical Investigation on colors harmonious with skin colors

Today's conception of beauty has a broader meaning that in any other period in the sense that it comprises fashion, hair, make-up, to be called Total Coordination.
The role and range of the multi-visual media such as television, photographs, and movies has become more generalized, and the importance of colors have been recognized. Thus the desire to look more attractive and beautiful has developed into the conception of harmony in colors. Colors are perceived visually, therefore can be considered as a physiological phenomenon, but at the same time can be a psychological one since it raises some kind emotion through the senses.
This study is aiming to show that the emotional effects of the colors can be categorized according to temperature, seasonal colors and so on, and that the colors of skin, hair and eyes do act as factors in the formation of the impression and transmission of the person's image. Colors have been categorized as Warm and Cool according to temperature, and as four seasonal colors according to the four seasons.
In this study, I have analyzed the characteristics and common factors in "Color Coordinate". Donna Fujii's theory and Mathis and Connor's theory.
1. The personal Color System in the "Color Coordinate" :(1) categorized the impression of the yellowish tone of the skin color as a Warm color, and impression of the pinkish tone as a Cool color.
(2) subactegorized each of the Warm color and Cool color into hard-type and soft-type, based upon the melanine pigmentation : thus the soft-type of the Warm color is representing the spring color, the hard-type of the Warm color the fall color, the soft-type of the Cool color the summer color, and the hard-type of the Cool color the winter color.
It implies therefore that the seasonal color and the concordant skin color are considered as of the same category.
2. Donna fujii's theory categorizes colors and skin color into four seasonal colors, subcategorizing on the basis of the value, the contrast between the hair color and skin color. Thus a person can be called to have a high contrast or a low contrast, depending upon the degree of contrast between the hair color and the skin color. The relationship between color and skin color is classified as same as that of the value and chroma.
3. In the theory of Mathis and Connor.
(1) the six color groups (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet) consitute the twenty-five elements of the color wheel.
(2) the temperature is categorized as Warm and Cool in reative temperature.
(3) color derived from the twenty-five colors of the color wheel are classified as washed, tinted, shaded, toasted or muted.
(4) skin colors and hair colors are categorized in different contrasting levels.
(5) harmonies between skin color, eye color and hair color of a person is gorized as monochromatic, complementary, analogous, triadic or neutral.
(6) the intensity of the skin color is categorized into High and LowFrom the investigation of the above theories, it is possible to conclude that the harmony of colors matching with the skin color can be categorized in terms of value, chroma, tone and intensity.
