실제 자폐스펙트럼 장애인을 바탕으로 제작된 영화<녹턴>, <말아톤>분석 = A Film Analysis of <Nocturne> and <Marathon> Depicting Real-Life Cases of Autism Spectrum Disorder

This study deeply analyzed the films <Nocturne> and <Marathon>, which were produced based on actual autism spectrum disorders, to analyze the effects of autism spectrum disorders participating in sports and music, and through this process, to clarify what positive effects and problems exercise and art cause in the lives of autism spectrum disorders, and to highlight that the film medium can be used as a resource for improving the public's awareness of disabilities, rather than simply as a media tool. The research tool was obtained by purchasing lifetime ownership rights to the films <Nocturne> and <Marathon>, and the analysis method was a disability theory model, media frame analysis, and text analysis. In particular, a frequency analysis was conducted to analyze how and in what direction the films analyzed in the study were exposed to the public. In addition, to secure the reliability of the analyzed data, a follow-up audit and peer review process were conducted by recruiting personnel who had conducted numerous qualitative studies and special sports-related studies. The results of the analysis were as follows: <Nocturne> had ‘medical limitations 9 times, medical diversity 2 times, social limitations 17 times, and social diversity 5 times’, while <Marathon> had ‘medical limitations 10 times, medical diversity 3 times, social limitations 7 times, and social diversity 7 times’, indicating that both films had more negative elements than positive elements. Currently, autism spectrum disorders are steadily increasing not only in Korea but also around the world, but the causes and treatments are unclear. However, considering that there are ways to alleviate and improve problem behaviors through various approaches, the researcher’s guess is that our society requires people with disabilities and non-disabled people to coexist in society. Therefore, this study analyzed a film based on an actual autism spectrum hypothesis, examined the level of exposure to the public, and then compared the results of the analysis with the results of previous studies to devise a realistic interpretation. This study is thought to be meaningful for the public to access as educational material. The researcher hopes that the analyzed film will not be limited to a simple content-based media, but will be reborn as a resource that can improve the public's awareness of autism spectrum disorder.
