국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 청소년을 대상으로 소설 󰡔구덩이󰡕를 서사의 분기점 및 서사의 다기성에 주목하여 분석하고 운명론적 세계관을 초월하는 양상을 탐색하여 문학치료학적 교육프로그램을 설계하고 실행하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이는 최근들어 청년들 사이에서 ‘노력해도 삶이 바뀌지 않는다’는 ‘수저계급론’과 같은 비관적이고 다소 운명론적 사회인식이 팽배되어가는 분위기로 인해 어려움을 겪을 때 대처할 필요가 있다는 문제제기에서 시작되었다.
소설 󰡔구덩이(Holes)󰡕를 선정한 이유는 주인공 스탠리가 고조할아버지대에서부터 전해 내려 온 운명을 넘어서서 자신의 삶을 구축하는 자기초월의 내용을 담고 있기 때문이다. 연구자는 본 작품이 스탠리가 자신의 선택에 책임을 지며 당당히 감당해내는 모습에 청소년들이 서사적으로 접근하여 운명을 초월하는 서사적 경험을 하기에 적합하다고 보았다.
본고는 소설 󰡔구덩이󰡕의 서사의 분기점을 기준으로 한 분석을 바탕으로 청소년들이 직접 선택을 하며 시뮬레이션 하여 작품서사에 접속할 수 있도록 프로그램을 설계하였다. 이때 서사의 분기점에서 각자의 선택에 잘 접속할 수 있도록 It’s Me 활동과 열린 질문이 있는 활동지를 통해 작품을 잘 이해할 수 있도록 하였다.
본 연구에서는 설계된 프로그램을 실제 적용하였다. 이때 청소년A는 혼자 힘으로 어찌 할 수 없는 운명론적 세계관으로 지속적으로 ‘집’을 선택하고 문제 상황을 회피하고 의존하는 양상을 보였으나 소설 󰡔구덩이󰡕의 작품 서사에 접속하여 자신이 맺고 있는 신뢰에 기반한 또래 관계의 상호도움을 통하여 책임있는 선택을 하였다. 이는 운명론적 세계관을 초월하는 서사에 청소년A가 접속해 나가면서 가능하게 되었다고 할 수 있다.
본 프로그램은 내담자 청소년A 한명의 사례로, 전체 청소년에게 일괄 적용하기가 어려운 면이 있다. 하지만 본 연구를 통해 프로그램을 적용할 수 있는 방안을 탐색하였기에 추후 다수의 청소년들에게 확장 활용할 수 있게 되었다고 본다. 청소년들이 학교 문학교육 현장에서 서사에 접속하여 내면화할 수 있는 서사적 경험을 늘려 건강한 세계관을 정립해 나갈 수 있는 기반을 제공하였기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the novel Holes for adolescents by paying attention to the divergence and multiplicity of the narrative, and to design and implement a literary therapeutic educational program by exploring patterns that transcend the fatalistic worldview. This originated from the need to deal with the recent widespread pessimistic and somewhat fatalistic social perception among young people, such as the theory of the spoonbill class, that “even if you try, your life does not change.” The reason for choosing the novel Holes is that Stanley, the main character, presents a story of self-transcendence, building his life beyond the fate passed down from his great-grandfather's generation. The researcher considered this work suitable for teenagers to approach Stanley's confident handling of his choices in an epic way and encounter a narrative experience that transcends fate.
This paper designed a program to allow adolescents to access the narrative by making their own choices and simulating them based on the analysis based on the tipping point of the narrative of the novel Holes. At this time, to allow each person to access their choices well at the tipping point of the narrative, the work can be understood well through It's Me activities and activity sheets with open questions.
In this study, the designed program was actually applied. Adolescent A continuously chose “home” with a fatalistic worldview that he could not do anything about alone, avoided and relied on problem situations, but he connected to the narrative of the novel Holes and made a responsible choice through the mutual help of peer relations based on the trust he had. This may have been made possible because adolescent A approached a narrative that transcends the fatalistic worldview.
This program is an example of one participant, Juvenile A, and it is difficult to apply it to all adolescents at once. However, we explored ways to apply the program through this study, and believe that it can be extended and utilized by a large number of adolescents in the future. It is expected that this study will provide the basis for establishing a healthy worldview by increasing adolescents’ access to the narrative experience and helping them internalize narratives in the field of school literature education.
