애국계몽기 한시에 대한 일연구 :『대한매일신보』소재 한시를 중심으로 = A study on the Chinese Poem at the patriotic enlightenment period -Centering around the Chinese Poem on the Korea Daily News-

In the literary history, it is so hard to study patriotic enlightenment period. As a transitional period between middle and modern, That is not a natural stream. Especially Korea didn't get settled in to the western civilization because of the enlightenment. So, the hermit kingdom was thrown into confusion and the racial characteristics were dimmed by the sudden-imported western ideas and things.
However, some patriots found righteous armies all over the country and the patriotic enlightenment was taken by press. Both resistances kept the the racial characteristics strong and people to be educated.
The Korea Daily News was one of the outstanding press which did the job.
Reading the poems on the press word by word, this thesis is looking deep into the inner world of the intelligentsia in the patriotic enlightenment period.
Paragraph 1
This paragraph plays up the poems which resist the imperialistic invasion. The poets have attached great importance to the independence, strenuous and enlightenment. The sentence - Our spirits will survive forever even if our nation is destroyed - have shown their will against the outside power.
Paragraph 2
This paragraph says how did the patriots expressed their sense of the country's crisis through their poem. Especially, so many 'Regretting Poems', infusing a patriotism into the heart of the people, appeared on the newspaper.
Paragraph 3
Searching for the Revolution of the Chinese poem, it originated with the Yang Kyechyo, a Chinese poet. It could be divided into Sin Ui Kyeong(新意境), Sin Eo Gu(新語句), inheritance of traditional form. Among them, Sin Ui Kyeong(新意境) is the worthiest of attention. The others are expressions of the Sin Ui Kyeong(新意境).
It was the enlightenment that changed the Chinese Poem. But trying to enlighten the public, it must be better to write the poem in Korean not Chinese. So the Chinese in the period tended to following the form of Korean Poem but it was a self-destruction of the Chinese Poem. The Chinese Poem had not been put in the newspaper for quiet some time and it strictly held the style of the traditional Chinese Poem when it appeared again.
