충청지역 민속 연구의 현황과 과제(2014-2024) = Trend and Tasks of Folklore Studies in Chungcheong Region (2014-2024)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지역사회에서의 민속학 연구는 지역의 역사와 문화, 사회적 경험을 바탕으로 지역에서 전승되고, 행해지고 있는 다양한 행위와 믿음, 의식체계 등을 효과적으로 파악하고 인식할 수 있기 때문에 지역 문화 연구에 중요한 역할을 수행한다.
2014년부터 2024년까지 최근 10년간 충청지역에서의 민속학 연구 동향은 다양한 주제와 문제의식을 가지고 이루어졌으며, 충남지역의 경우 내포지역을 연구대상으로 하고, 중견학자들의 연구와 전국을 대상으로 하는 학자들의 연구가 이루어지고 있음을 살펴볼 수 있다. 충청북도의 경우도 공동체와 마을, 축제 등 다양한 분야에서 연구가 진행되었다. 대전과 세종은 제한된 범위에서 연구가 진행되어 아쉬움이 있다.
충청지역 민속학과 관련 이러한 연구성과와 함께 최근 변화한 무형유산의 범주와 체계, 무형유산 법령의 공포 등 제도의 변화와 미래무형유산 사업에 따른 활동과 대응, 지역 거점 연구기관의 활발한 활동 등을 주목할 수 있다. 아울러 기존 연구자들의 노령화가 이루어지고 있지만 신진 연구자들의 등장과 유입이 저조한 부분은 문제점으로 볼 수 있다. 또한 그동안 민속을 담지해오던 1940-50년대 세대들이 사망하고 있어 많은 민속의 전승이 단절될 것이 우려된다. 이들이 생존해 있을 때 서둘러 조사와 구술채록 등이 이루어질 필요가 있다. 이에 대한 대안은 우리나라 무형유산 전승과 지원을 정부에서 주도하는 구조를 감안해야 하며, 결국 지자체의 역할이 중요하다. ‘공공민속학’의 개념을 도입, 지역사회를 중심으로 한 전문인력의 양성과 공공기관, 지자체로의 배치, 현재 진행하는 무형유산, 민속 분야 연구와 조사의 질적, 양적 개선과 다양한 민속 자료의 수집과 아카이빙, 정보 제공, 크고 작은 사업에 민속 전문가들의 참여를 통해 지역사회와 무형유산, 민속이 보다 가까워질 필요가 있다.

Folklore research in the local community plays an important role in cultural research because it can effectively grasp and recognize various actions, beliefs, and conscious systems that are being transmitted and practiced in the region based on local history, culture, and social experiences.
For the past 10 years, from 2014 to 2024, folk studies research trends in Chungcheong have been conducted with various topics and problem consciousness, and in the case of Chungcheongnam-do, it can be seen that the Naepo area is the subject of research, the research of a veteran scholars, and the research of scholars targeting the whole country are being conducted. In the case of Chungcheongbuk-do, research was also conducted in various fields such as communities, villages, and festivals. Daejeon and Sejong are regrettable that research has been conducted in a limited range.
Along with these findings related to folklore in the Chungcheong region, it is noteworthy that changes in heritage system, such as the category and system of intangible heritage, the promulgation of intangible heritage laws, activities and responses to future intangible heritage projects, and active activities of local base research institutes. In addition, although existing researchers are aging, the low emergence and inflow of new researchers can be seen as a problem. In addition, as the generations of the 1940s and 50s who have supported folklore are dying, there is a concern that the transmission of many folklore will be cut off, so it is necessary to conduct an investigation and oral records quickly when they are alive.
As an alternative to this, the structure in which the government leads the transmission and support of intangible heritage in Korea should be considered. In the end, local governments need to introduce the concept of ‘public folklore’. To this end, the training of professional manpower centered on the local community and the allocation to public institutions and local governments should be given priority. Local communities and folklore need to get closer with the participation of folk experts in large and small projects, such as the ongoing intangible heritage, qualitative and quantitative improvement of research and investigation in the folk field, and collection and archiving of various folk data.
