고소설과 설화문학의 관련성 연구의 제 문제점 = The several Problems in the study of relativity between the Old - Novel and the Folktale

I investigate, in this thesis, what kinds of studies are able to take and problems to produce thorough the relations of the old Korean novel and Korean folktale. Those are as follows: (1) folktale's growing to novel - the problem of ur-folktale, (2) theory of genre concerning the folktale and novel - the problem between the historical genre of narrative and general narratology, (3) narrative's history and novel's socialogy - the problem of novel's rise and novel in the early period, (4) novel's type and shift -the problem of Korean old-novel's classification.
A old-novel can be summerized in the brief outline. It is the core content of the story, therefore can be easily compared as the similar content of a folktale and understood as ur-folktale. But the concept of the ur-folktale should be limited as what means the materials to compose the novel and the episodes to derive a secondary edition of certain novel.
In the area of Literary-Chinese Civilization Solhwa(folktale) and Sosol(old-novel) had been existed as the fundamental genres of narrative. Otherwise, they had the positions as the historical genres in the certain era, had the divergent characteristics in the perspective of genre, and co-existed in the same time of literary history. But we should take notice the diverse many genres in the history of written narrative, e.g. 傳奇, 寓言, 傳, 逸話, 野談. They have the individual characteristics which mix the narrating and assertive writing, which develope the special method for external-self (narrator or writer) to intervene internal world.
Also, the rise of old-novel should be investigated through the diverse tradition in Korean narrative history, e.g. oral, didactic, and empirical narrative's tradition. It results to turn out contrary to the literary facts that we guess for the old-novel to derive directly from the folktale. The early history of old novel had been established by the romance line(傳奇系), didactic allegory line(寓言系), and documentory recording line(實記系), which had represented the differentiation of the noble family's literature in the earlier Choson period.
However real is the distance between the old novel and the folktale, we can't deny their familiar relationships. Especially, the Hangul-Sosol(國文小說) generally have not the certain origins from other country's literature or Hanmun-Sosol(漢文小說). The types of myth, legend, and fairy tale become a good standards by which we can undestand the type and it's variations of old-novel. We should think out the systematic method to classfy the old novel, involving the relativity of the folktale, the written narratives vs. the old-novel.
