조선·류큐(琉球)사행, 네덜란드인의 에도방문과 막부의 법령·先例 - 『享保撰要類集』의 「朝鮮琉球阿蘭陀人之部」를 중심으로- = The Visits of Chosen and Ryukyu Delegations and a Dutchman to Edo, and the Ordinances and Precedents of Bakuhu(幕府) - Focused on Chosen Ryuku Arantazinnobu(「朝鮮琉球阿蘭陀人之部」) of Kyohosenyoruisyu(『享保撰要類集』) -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to examine how the Edo government(江戶幕府) received and treated the delegations of Chosen and Ryukyu(琉球) in comparison with the Dutchman through the analysis on Kyohosenyoruisyu a compilation of precedents and ordinances in relation to the visits of Chosen and Ryukyu delegations and a Dutchman to Edo during the time of Shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune(德川吉宗) who was the eighth shogun of Edo Shogunate; this kind of studies have rarely been carried out in the research of delegations to date. The findings verified through the analysis are as follows:
First, the Edo receptions of the Chosen delegation in 1719 and the Ryukyu delegation in 1718 were simplified compared to previous delegations in receptions and ceremonial matters as they were treated on the same line of the policies executed by Tokugawa Yoshimune such as in Kyoho reforms.
Second, at the time of the Edo visit of Ryukyu delegation in 1718, Tokugawa Yoshimune treated Ryukyu as a ‘subject state’ which was under the influence of Japan, not as a ‘foreign country’, and even if a lord of Satsuma accompanied(薩摩藩主) Ryukyu delegation to Edo, they were just regarded as a joining team to Sankinkotai and his official rankwas not promoted to the delegation level.
Third, whereas, in 1711, no visit was made to the residences of Rouju(老 中) and Wakatoshiyori(若年寄), or in 1748, the Official Interpretervisited the residence of Gosanke as well as the residences of Rouju and Wakatoshiyori, in case of the Chosen delegation in 1719, all of the eight delegates went to visit the residences of Rouju, Wakatoshiyori and Gosanke(御三家).
Lastly, on the other hand, Keijser, who offered horses as present to Tokugawa Yoshimune and taught the horsemen of Edo Shogunate breeding methods and therapeutics, received special treatment including accompanying Tokugawa Yoshinobu to the suburbs of Edo because of the Shogun’s interest in horse riding. Tokugawa Yoshinobu learned first-hand Western horse riding and carried out policies such as introducing Western academics into the nation.
