Although the concept of margins itself is not new in ecumenical mission thought, it is noteworthy that missional reading of the Bible centered on this concept is relatively inactive. It raises a question about the fact that Bible reading is being done within a certain stereotyped framework. Here, ‘the stereotyped framework’ refers to reading the Bible in the framework of the chosen people and the redemptive history. It sometimes produced particularism that fixed all the focus of the Old Testament only on Israel, and also biased it toward messiah-centered interpretations. Stereotyped reading of the Bible allows the biblical figures to be read and interpreted in a stereotyped framework. This kind of Bible reading is an obstacle to reading and interpreting figures of the Bible in various ways. In accordance with this critical view, I attempts to gauge the theme that the concept of marginal people drives in Missio Dei by reading Abram and Rahab as the concept of marginal people, which is the first purpose of this paper. This leads to the second purpose, which is to seek how the reading of the Bible with the concept of marginal people can redefine the attitude and direction of mission work or missionaries. The research method is to observe Abram and Rahab in the context of Genesis and Joshua, focusing on the texts related to Abram and Rahab, and read them according to the narrative of the given current text rather than focusing on textual criticism and exegesis. This is to seek that even those who have difficulty accessing the original text of the Bible can interpret and read them missionally as much as they want when carefully observe the context of a given text. In addition, by reading ‘the mission from the margins’ of TTL in parallel with the Bible, the theme of this paper will be clearly revealed. It is very important that God’s covenant that all peoples of the earth would be blessed through Abram was given along with the call of strangers and foreigners, that is, margins. ‘Mission from the top down’, ‘governing and dispensing mission’, or ‘disrespectful mission’ are errors that are easy to fall into when one misses the biblical perspective. The Abram Narrative reveals that the basis of the heart and attitude of God’s people, led by Abram, should be ‘marginal’ as a participant and practitioner. Even if the blessing promised to Abram has a universal view that encompasses all the peoples of the earth, and even if the God who bestows the blessing is a God of a fundamentally different dimension compared to other gods, it does not justify the arrogance, and self righteousness of having universal blessing and truth is not guaranteed.
