現代 都市 空間에서의 環境 彫刻의 役割 = The Role of Environmental Sculpture in Contemporary Urban Space

The assertion mentioned by Siah Armajani that " Nowadays the appearance of the Public Arts is to banish myth in the creativity" suggests the direction of transifiguration to the contemporary urban space which is being stagnated under the traditional beauty.
Cities of the past ruled by future-oriented ideal couldn't afford enough urban space tpo aspect the diversification of the conten\mporary civilization itself.
Accordingly, almost of the Public Sculptures adapted to this showed criticial point in executing it's natural role to offer vivid and creative Image to the masses.
The traditional role of the Sculpture makes us feel the necessity of new form of expression to offer the modernic Image, that is, the time has arrived for us at the point of rediscovering the value of the base, common and more close to the masses rather than mounmental, lofty and elopquent.
To create contemporay Image which is connected directly with the life and thinking of the masses, artists, advancing through experimental spirit, on the one hand, are developing the work of reconsidering the theory and assertion of the heretical aritists who were turned away unreasonably on the ground of violation of the traditional view of value.
The movement for "Enlargement of Vision" attempted by these people is indicated finally as 3 kinds of aspects during the expression course of the sculpture.
1) Enlargement of Material Scope-New material offerd by the modern scientific are being selected besides Thoughies and various Softies which gave big importance as traditional Medium. Moreover, all the materials such as various industrial products, waste articles and Junk which are by products of rhe modern material civilization would be utilized as the medium of expression.
2) Diversification of Production Technique-Besides Modelling, Casting, Carving, Forging as of category of traditional technique. Welding, Assemblage, repousse, Modernic Duplication and various experimental developing method aimed at incidental effort might act the role of creating the new Image.
3) Enlargement of Expression Method-Not staying at the cartegory of the traditional sculpture limited to the modelling works as object of appreciation, but through the analytical approach to the space, it plans the Enlargement of Modelling Space and attempts harmony with the Environment.
For this purpose, phenomenalistic, topographical and landscape architectural approaches are requried and thinking space would be created through this.
