국어학 : 1970년대 합쇼체의 남성어적 성격에 관하여 -소설 자료를 중심으로- = A Study of Hapsyo Level of Korean Honorifics focused on a difference of the gender in 1970`s novels

This study is about the use of Korean Honorifics in 1970`s novels focused on a difference of the sex of the dialogue participants. The reason why I`m interested in a difference of the sex of the dialogue participants is a cultural distinctiveness of Korean society in 1970`s. The cause of which the use of Korean Honorifics among female speakers showed dissimilarity from that among male speaker was that the society was the male dominant one which was affected from powerful military regime. We can find meaningful results from the statistical analysis of the dialogues from the novels in 1970`s. (1) public relationship area, social status disparity, 합쇼체, male (2) public relationship area, social status similarity, 합쇼체, male (3) private relationship area, social status disparity, 합쇼체, male (4) private relationship area, social status similarity, 합쇼체, male (5) private relationship area, social status disparity, 해요체, female This results shows that the frequency of 합쇼체 by male speaker is higher in the public relationship area, which was related to the 1970`s situation. It was the time that the value and the principle of the military filtered into the civil area. At that time, professional soldiers advanced into the civil area systematically and most male experienced the duty of defense in the military, which made it easier for military culture to settle in the civil area. The use of 합쇼체 has been expanded in the civil society by most male experienced the military while the social relationship in the military was transferring to the civil society.
