텍스트 선정이 비판적 읽기에 미치는 영향 연구 = A Study on the Influence of Texts on the Critical-reading

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study focused on the importance of using texts dealing with questions closely relating to the learners or their interests to increase the effectiveness of critical reading education.
The critical reading is conducted by an interaction among the text, readers and the context. These three elements interact with one another, but what makes or breaks the critical reading, influencing on the other two elements, is the text.
The critical reading can be activated when the text deals with the readers' interests so that the readers' background, critical tendency and the contexts can be prepared.
In fact, the result of the students' critical reading performance showed the following characteristics when the learners read the texts closely relating to them.
Characteristic 1. The learners have a tendency to check and criticize the coherence and the validity of the contents of the text in detail.
Characteristic 2. The learners criticize the opinions of the writers or suggest alternatives referring to such as social phenomenon in the extra-texts perspective.
Characteristic 3. The learners clearly express their views on the opinions of the writers, and usually state their opinions or refute others' opinions considering in advance the probable arguments from others.
Based on the result of the study, this article suggests phased critical reading education where the frequency of using texts dealing with questions closely relating to the learners or their interests is high at the elementary level, then the frequency of using such texts becomes decreased at the advanced level.
