생태미학의 가능성과 시적 적용의 문제

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문에서는 한국 생태시가 21세기 생태론적 전환의 시기를 맞아 새로운 시대의식과 호응하기 위해서는 인식의 변화뿐 아니라 방법론의 확충을 기해야 한다는 문제의식을 바탕으로 생태미학의 필요성을 제안하고 그 가능성을 모색해본다. 이를 위해 그간 내용적 측면에 치우쳐 있던 생태문학 연구와 달리 생태문학의 미학적 특성에 주목하고, 생태미학의 구축을 위해 관점의 차원, 표현의 차원, 윤리의 차원의 기준을 제시한다. 또한 이러한 기준을 실제 작품 분석에 적용해봄으로써 생태미학의 구체적 실현 가능성을 검토한다.
관점의 차원에서 생태미학은 기존미학의 인간 중심적인 관점과 달리 인간과 자연의 상호 융합적 관점을 특징으로 한다. 주체와 타자의 상호융합을 중시하는 현상학적 관점은 생태미학에 시사하는 바가 크다. 생태미학에서는 생태 시스템 전체의 상호의존적인 관계를 중시하기 때문에 인간 중심적인 시선을 벗어나 생명공동체의 다양성과 회복탄력성을 지향한다.
표현의 차원에서 생태미학은 근대미학의 시각 중심주의와 달리 다양한 감각을 활용한다. 동양의 미학 범주인 의경을 통해 제한된 감각에서 벗어나 감각의 생동성과 자유로운 상상력을 결합하여 외부 자연과 인간의 내적 생명이 조응하며 확장될 가능성을 모색해볼 수 있다. 감각의 다양성과 주체와 대상의 상호연관성을 표현하기 위해서는 인간의 도구적 언어가 아닌 자연의 언어에 귀 기울이는 전향적인 태도와 직관적 통찰이 필요하다.
윤리의 차원에서 생태미학은 주체보다 세계가 우선한다고 보기 때문에 미적 자율성을 넘어서는 윤리의 실천을 중시한다. 자연과 인간이 생명공동체로서 인식되는 생태미학에서 미학과 윤리학은 별개의 것일 수 없다. 균형과 조화와 공평함이라는 미학의 원리는 곧 사회윤리의 정의이기도 하다.
인간이 자연을 지배하고 통제할 수 있다고 확신했던 이전 시대의 세계관은 지속 가능한 미래라는 생존의 목표를 위해 자연과 인간의 공조가 무엇보다 중요하다는 인식의 전환을 맞이하고 있다. 이러한 세계관의 변화와 맞물려 자연을 바라보는 관점과 미학적 감수성도 변할 수밖에 없다. 생태미학은 자연과 함께해온 오랜 미학의 전통을 일부 계승하거나 크게 변환시키면서 시대정신과 호응할 수 있는 새로운 미학의 가능성을 제시하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

I propose the necessity of ecological aesthetics and explore the possibility based on the problem that Korean ecological poems must expand their methodology as well as change their perceptions in order to respond to a new era of ecological transformation in the 21st century in this paper. Therefore, unlike ecological literature research, which has been biased toward content, the aesthetic characteristics of ecological literature are attracting attention. In order to build ecological aesthetics, standards for perspective, expression, and ethical dimensions are presented. In addition, by applying these criteria to actual works analysis, the specific feasibility of ecological aesthetics is reviewed.
In dimension of perspective, ecological aesthetics, unlike the human-centered perspective of existing aesthetics, is characterized by a convergent perspective between humans and nature. The phenomenological perspective that values the mutual fusion between the subject and the other has good implications for ecological aesthetics. Since ecological aesthetics values the interdependent relationship of the entire ecological system, it aims for the diversity and resilience of the life community beyond the human-centered gaze.
In dimension of expression, ecological aesthetics utilizes various senses, unlike the visualism of modern aesthetics. Through the oriental aesthetic category, ‘Uigyeong’, we can explore the possibility of external nature and human inner life coordinating and expanding by combining the vitality of the senses and free imagination. In order to express the diversity of senses and the interrelationship between subjects and objects, it is necessary to have a positive attitude and intuitive insight to listen to the language of nature, not the language of instruments.
In dimension of ethics, ecological aesthetics takes precedence over subjects, so ethical practices beyond aesthetic autonomy are emphasized. Aesthetics and ethics cannot be separate in ecological aesthetics where nature and humans are perceived as life communities. The aesthetic principles of balance, harmony and fairness are also a social and ethical definition.
The worldview of the past, which was convinced that humans could dominate and control nature, is changing its perception that cooperation between nature and humans is more important than anything else in order to achieve the goal of a sustainable future. Along with this change in worldview, our views on nature and aesthetic sensitivity are bound to change. Ecological aesthetics suggests the possibility of new aesthetics that can respond to the spirit of the times by inheriting or transforming some of the long aesthetic traditions that nature has shared.
