초연결사회의 지성사적 조망: 근대시민사회와 초연결사회 관련 문제를 중심으로 = An Intellectual History Perspective on Hyper-connected Society: Focusing on Issues Related to Modern Civil Society and Hyper-connected Society

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 초연결사회의 지성사적 기반과 성격을 근현대 시민사회론의 맥락에서 고찰한다. 정보통신기술의 발달로 도래한 초연결사회는 사물과 사람이 긴밀하게 연결되어 소통하는 사회를 의미하며, 이는 기존의 연결사회와는 달리 중앙집중적 구조가 아닌 수평적 네트워크를 특징으로 한다. 본고는 먼저 초연결사회의 발전사적 배경과 전망을 살펴본다. 초연결사회는 4차 산업혁명의 핵심 기술들이 융합되면서 등장했으며, 산업뿐만 아니라 시민사회 구조와 작동방식의 근본적 변화를 초래할 것으로 예상된다.
초연결사회의 지성사적 배경은 근대 시민사회론과 이에 대한 비판적 논의에서 찾을 수 있다. 특히 루소와 마르크스의 사상에 주목하여, 이들이 근대 시민사회의 문제점으로 지적한 소유와 노동의 객체화, 인간의 소외 문제 등을 분석한다. 두 사상가는 공통적으로 근대 시민사회에서 인간과 자연, 인간과 인간, 인간과 사회 간의 진정한 연결이 상실되었다고 본다. 나아가 근대 시민사회론보다 초연결사회에 더 근접한 지성사적 기반을 들뢰즈의 수평적이고 탈중심화된 리좀형 모델에서 찾고, 초연결사회에서 국가와 거대자본의 통제에 대한 견제 및 연대참여의 필요성을 검토한다.
결론적으로 본 논문은 초연결사회가 근대 시민사회의 한계를 극복하고 새로운 형태의 다원적 연결과 소통을 가능하게 할 잠재력이 있음을 제시한다. 그러나 동시에 개인정보 보호, 디지털 격차 등 새로운 문제들에 대한 대응이 필요함을 강조한다. 초연결사회의 긍정적 측면을 극대화하고 부정적 영향을 최소화하기 위해서는 지속적인 연구와 정책적 노력이 요구된다.

This paper examines the intellectual foundations and characteristics of the hyperconnected society within the context of modern and contemporary civil society theory. The hyperconnected society, brought about by advancements in information and communication technology, refers to a society where objects and people are closely connected and communicate with each other. Unlike previous connected societies, it is characterized by horizontal networks rather than centralized structures. The study first explores the historical background and prospects of the hyperconnected society. Emerging from the convergence of key technologies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the hyperconnected society is expected to bring about fundamental changes not only in industry but also in the structure and functioning of civil society.
The intellectual background of the hyperconnected society can be traced to modern civil society theory and its critical discourse. Particular attention is given to the ideas of Rousseau and Marx, analyzing their critiques of modern civil society, including the objectification of ownership and labor, and the alienation of humans. Both thinkers commonly view that genuine connections between humans and nature, humans and humans, and humans and society have been lost in modern civil society. Furthermore, the paper identifies a more relevant intellectual foundation for the hyperconnected society in Deleuze’s horizontal and decentralized rhizome model, rather than in modern civil society theory. It also examines the need for checks against state and large capital control, as well as the necessity of solidarity and participation in the hyperconnected society.
In conclusion, this paper suggests that the hyperconnected society has the potential to overcome the limitations of modern civil society and enable new forms of pluralistic connection and communication. However, it also emphasizes the need to address new challenges such as personal data protection and digital divides. Continuous research and policy efforts are required to maximize the positive aspects of the hyperconnected society while minimizing its negative impacts.
