조선인 강제동원 명부의 소장현황과 연구활용 사례 = Current Status of Collecting the Forced Mobilization List of Koreans and Case Study Use

The list of forced mobilization is an important data proving the damage caused by forced mobilization. The Korean government had a considerable amount of forced mobilization lists from early on, if not complete, through self-production, delivery from the Japanese government, and other collection.
Currently, there are lists related to forced mobilization in various organizations, including the National Archives of Korea, the National Memorial Museum of Forced Mobilization under Japanese Occupation, the Independence Hall of Korea, the Korean Red Cross, and the National Institute of Korean History. In terms of utilization, there are cases where the information on the collection of the lists already obtained is unclear and thus may not be used properly. In addition, each institution that owns the list has a different data disclosure method, and there are cases where it is difficult to access actual data or has not been established a DB. Due to these various obstacles, it is difficult to use the list for research.
Although it is difficult to disclose and read data, research on forced mobilization in Korean history is steadily progressing. It would be quite useful to recognize the data value of the list and to release it as a means of utilization. The list has already been published by the Compulsory Mobilization Committee, and the National Archives of Korea is also conducting research on the collection of data.
Research using lists is also steadily progressing. As a result, not only the general aspects of forced mobilization, but also the effects of special conditions at specific workplaces on mobilization victims are being investigated. However, efforts to further develop in terms of research are also needed. Interdisciplinary research will certainly take forced mobilization research to the next level. Analysis based on new perspectives and knowledge can open up new perspectives. However, there are clear limitations to be aware of. It is necessary to keep in mind how to deal with and analyze the editorial materials that occupy a large portion of the forced mobilization list. More detailed and thick observations are needed in the collection and analysis of data including lists.
