고등학교 <통합사회>의 사회정의 관련 내용 분석과 사회정의 교육에의 시사점 = Analysis of Social Justice-Related Contents in High School <Integrated Social Studies> Course and Its Implications for Social Justice Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 현대 다원주의 사회에서 논의되고 있는 다양한 정의관이 교육과정과 교과서에 충분히 반영되지 못하고 있다는 문제의식 아래 2015 개정 <통합사회> 교육과정과 교과서의 사회정의 관련 내용을 분석하고 사회정의 교육에 대한 시사점을 제안하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 최근 논의되는 정의관으로 자유지상주의, 평등주의적 자유주의, 공동체주의, 인정과 차이를 강조하는 정의관, 역량 정의관에 대해 살펴보고 이를 교육과정과 교과서 분석을 위한 준거로 삼았다. 또한 분석 대상으로 2015 개정 교육과정 고등학교 <통합사회> 과목의 관련 성취기준과 성취기준 해설, 5종 교과서의 관련 본문과 탐구활동 및 읽기 자료 사례를 분석하였다.
분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육과정과 교과서에서 정의의 의미와 기준은 주로 분배 상황을 중심으로 서술되어 있었다. 둘째, 교육과정과 교과서에서 정의관은 주로 자유주의적 정의관과 공동체주의적 정의관을 중심으로 논의되었으며 이 두 정의관이 대립적 관점에서 서술되고 있었다. 셋째, 교과서의 탐구활동과 읽기 자료에는 인정과 차이를 강조하는 정의관과 역량 정의관을 적용할 수 있는 사례가 일부 제시되고 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 사회과 사회정의 교육에 대해 다음과 같이 시사점을 제시할 수 있다. 첫째, 정의의 의미와 기준을 서술할 때 분배적 정의 개념을 넘어 다양한 관점의 정의 개념을 제시할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 정의관에 대해 서술할 때 자유주의 정의관과 공동체주의 정의관 뿐만 아니라 인정과 차이를 강조하는 정의관과 역량 정의관 등 최근 논의되고 있는 다양한 정의관을 제시할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 정의관에 대해 논의할 때 다양한 사회 현상과 사회 문제를 사례로 제시하고 이를 다각적이고 심층적으로 분석하도록 함으로써 학생들이 비판적 관점에서 사회정의를 탐색할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 필요가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the social justice-related content in the 2015 revised curriculum and textbooks and to propose implications for social justice education under the awareness that various views of justice discussed in modern pluralistic society are not sufficiently reflected in the curriculum and textbooks of <Integrated Social Studies>. In this study, we examined the recently discussed views of justice such as libertarianism, egalitarian liberalism, communitarianism, justice that emphasizes recognition and difference, and the capabilities approach, and used them as a reference for the analysis of curricula and textbooks. In addition, the relevant achievement standards and explanations of high school <Integrated Social Studies> subject in the 2015 revised curriculum as well as related texts, inquiry activities, and reading materials of the five types of textbooks were analyzed.
The results of the analysis are as follows. First, in curricula and textbooks, the meaning and criteria of justice were mainly described in the context of distribution. Second, in the curriculum and textbooks, the view of justice is mainly centered on the liberal view of justice and the communitarian view of justice, and these two views of justice are described from opposing perspectives. Third, in the inquiry activities and reading materials of the textbooks, there were some examples of the application of the concept of justice that emphasizes recognition and difference and the concept of capabilities.
Based on this, the following implications can be made for social justice education in social studies. First, when describing the meaning and criteria of justice, it is necessary to go beyond the concept of distributive justice and present the concept of justice from various perspectives. Second, when describing the view of justice, it is necessary to present not only the liberal view of justice and the communitarian view of justice, but also the views of justice that is currently being discussed, such as the view of justice that emphasizes recognition and difference, and the capabilities approach. Third, when discussing the view of justice, various social phenomena and social problems can be presented as examples and analyzed in a multifaceted and in-depth manner, providing an opportunity for students to explore social justice from a critical perspective.
