형기론(形氣論)과 물형(物形)의 관점에서 바라본 명당(明堂) = A Study of the Propitious Sites(myeongdang) from the Perspective of Hyeonggi Theory and Fengshui Shapes

Thus, this study investigated if they correspond the logic of Yong, Hyeol, Sa, and Su, the conditions for a propitious site in terms of Fengshui discussed in old Fengshui books, based on the Hyeonggi Theory and Fengshui Shapes of propitious sites recorded in The Canonical Scripture through an on-site survey and theory in the traditional Fengshui books. To examine based on the traditional Fengshui theory, first, The first thing that conditions the Propitious Sites(myeongdang) is Yongmaek of Mt. that consists of solid soil and Seokmaek forms geographical features of a mountain with repeated changes like the ranges of the mountains, intertwined like a spiderweb, rise and lie prone, winding in every direction, which looks almost disconnected but is actually not. As Jimaek is like the blood vessel of the human body, and Yong is compared to the limbs of the human body, Jusan that has such Fengshui conditions seems very suitable for the fact that Myeonghyeol is formed everywhere and can be considered a propitious mountain formed well with a clear Fengshui logic. Second, the Fengshui characteristic of Jusan . is that Jigak that supports the mountain range, forming a valley to the left and right of Yongmaek stretching from the peak of Mt. Seungdal and Yodo that supports the mountain range solidly have been developed well. It is noted that there is an excellent change in Yongmaek, with high, low, rising, and lying-prone curves, as if a dragon wriggles to the left and right. Like this, Mt. is a mountain with excellent changes in the chain with the state of the stretch of the mountain ridge repeating to go higher, go lower, rise, and lie prone. As for the change in the range of the mountain flowing down along the ridge, the beautiful mountains meet the sky as if there are clouds around the range of the mountain to exhibit the principle of integration. It is judged that it is a place with Fengshui energy in which the energies of heaven and earth are united as if the eternal logic of the universe acts brightly centering around Jusan. Third, the Propitious Sites(myeongdang) is overall with a harmony of mountain and water, neat Jusan and Ansan, and solid water outlet tightly fastened, so that the energy does not leak out, where Cheongryong, Baekho, Jujak, and Hyeonmu are so intimate that the long flow is spinning. To sum up the Fengshui states mentioned above, the area where Hyeol is formed between soil and bedrock is the right land for a great favored location having excellent Fengshui logic. Fourth, Fengshui characteristics of Gunshinbongjoshape of Propitious Sites(myeongdang) in are that it wraps up the village well, centering around Jusan in which Cheongryong and Baekho respond to each other as it has a clear distinction of host and guest between Jusan and Ansan and put together the inner part and the outer part and Yongho wraps up Hyeoljang in the left and right. This corresponds to the geographical law that it is a typical favored location back to the mountain and facing the water and has Yong, Hyeol, Sa, and Su. The flow in front of the village wraps it in Hoengsuguk, and vigorous vapor from the earth draws breath, as the energy of landscape yin-yang is added. As Yongmaek, the range of the mountain, is like the blood vessel of the human body, and Yong is compared to the limbs, it is a favored location formed by the sky and earth themselves.
