상상의 조국, 교착된 조선어 : 『해방신문(민중신문)』과 해방기 재일조선인의 국가/국어론 = Imagined Country, Complicated Korean Language : Focusing on Minjungshinmun/Haebangshinmun of Zainichi Korean in Liberation Period

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 해방 직후 일본에서 조선인들이 발행한 조선어 신문인 『민중신문』과 그것의 통합·개제판인 『해방신문』을 통해, ‘민족어의 회복=자유와 해방’이라는 도식을 넘어 발생한 재일조선인들의 복잡한 정치적·언어적 상상에 대해 탐색하고자 하는 시도이다. 이를 위해 먼저 해당 신문의 주요 필진 중 한 사람이었던 김두용을 통해, 일본공산당 및 재일본조선인연맹, 그리고 남·북조선의 정세와 관련하여 해당 신문의 성격을 파악하고자 했다. 『해방신문(민중신문)』이 일본공산당 및 조련의 강력한 영향 아래 있었다는 주장은 조선인운동에 대한 일본공산당의 지도방침 결정에 중요한 역할을 맡았던 김두용이 이 신문의 주필을 겸하고 있었다는 점에 근거해 왔다. 하지만 일본공산당 기관지 『젠에이[前衛]』와 그가 주필을 맡은 『해방신문(민중신문)』에 각각 실린 김두용의 주요 논설을 비교해 보면, 그러한 영향관계란 훨씬 더 복잡한 국면과 결절들로 이루어져 있음을 알 수 있다. 거기에는 일본 민주혁명 완수를 위한 ‘공동투쟁’의 프레임 속에서 ‘생활권=거주권’을 요구하면서도, 한편으로는 일본 내 정주(定住)가 기정사실화되어가는 상황 속에서 ‘귀환권’을 요구해야 한다는 재일조선인의 상태가 보다 복잡하게 작용하고 있었다. 귀환자 관리 및 생활권 옹호를 위한 일본 내 공동투쟁을 지도하던 김두용의 북조선으로의 귀환은, 마치 동전의 양면과 같은 재일조선인의 ‘생활권=거주권’과 ‘귀환권’ 사이의 관계를 다시금 생각해볼 여지를 제공한다.
한편, 그의 귀환을 전후로 한 시기는 일본에 대한 연합국사령부의 점령정책이 역코스(Reverse Course)로 선회한 시기와 겹쳐진다. 또한 미소공위의 최종 결렬과 남한 단독 총선거라는 조국의 정치적 상황은 조련 내부에 일본공산당과의 관계에 관한 갈등과 남북문제에 관한 갈등이라는 이중의 분열을 야기했다. 향후 소속될 체제 및 일본 내의 지위 모두 불투명한 상태에서 실시된 외국인등록령은 재일조선인으로 하여금 난민의 지위로 전락하거나 그렇지 않으면 존재하지 않는 국적 선택이라는 딜레마에 빠지도록 만들었다. 그것은 그들을 일본이라는 국가에 존재하는 동시에 존재하지 않도록 만드는 법이었으며, 그런 점에서 언제나 ‘부재’로 뒤바뀔 수도 있는 ‘재일(在日)’이란, 국가 없는 상태(stateless state)라는 전후 일본과 조선 사이의 어떤 피상적인 영역을 지시하고 있었다.
1946~47년 사이의 일본 민주혁명에 대한 공동투쟁이 급격히 이루어진 것과 비슷하게도, 통일국가 수립 좌절 후 북조선에 대한 절대적 지지운동 역시 가열차게 진행되었다. 『해방신문』에서는 국민-국가의 관계로서 북조선과의 관계를 조속히 정립하고자 했다. 조선민주주의인민공화국 수립에 호응하여 국가건설에 재일조선인들을 동원하는 전략은 문화적 차원에서 가장 의욕적으로 이루어졌다. 그중에서도 『해방신문』은 공화국의 문맹퇴치 사업에 주목하며 재일조선인 사회 내의 조선어 교육에 앞장섰다. 재일조선인문학의 언어문제에 관한 치열한 대립 속에서 식민지시기의 일본어 글쓰기와 해방 후의 조선어 글쓰기를 모두 ‘나를 잊은’ 삶으로 규정한 이은직이 『해방신문』에 조선어로 발표한 소설들은, 재일조선인의 조선어문학이 상정한 독자가 ‘자신’ 내부에서 ‘조국’으로 이행하는 과정을 보여준다. 이는 북조선으로의 월경을 상...

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to investigate complicated political, linguistic imaginations of Zainichi which exceeded the schematism of 'restoration of ethno-language=freedom and liberation', by reading Minjungshinmun, published in Japan directly after the liberation of Korean Peninsula, and Haebangshinmun, the integrated, retitled version of the former. For this, at first, beginning with the texts of Kim Du Yong, one of the principal writing staffs of those newspapers, the characteristics of them, related to Japan Communist Party, Korean Federation, and the political circumstance between Southern and Northern Chosun, will be examined. The opinion that those two newspapers were seriously influenced by Japan Communist Party and Korean Federation has been based on the fact that Kim Du Yong, who took the major role to make decision of Japan Communist Party for its guiding principle, concurrently served as the executive editor of the two. However, comparing the editorials of him on Zenei, the official organ of the Japan Communist Party, and on Haebangshinmun, for which he served as the executive editor, it becomes visible that the influencing relationship consisted of much more complicated situations and nodes. What operated more complicatedly was, rather, the state of Zainichi who required, on the one hand, 'right to live=right to reside' within the frame of a 'joint struggle' for japanese democratic revolution, on the other hand, 'right to return(homeward)' in the circumstance that residence in Japan had almost become a fait accompli. Kim Du Yong's return to Northern Chosun, who led the joint struggle in Japan for returnee administration and protection of the right to live, provides opportunity to think of the relation between 'right to live=right to reside' and 'right to return(homeward)' of Zainichi like as two sides of the same coin.
Meanwhile, his returning moment overlapped with when SCAP's occupation policy turned to Reverse Course. And the political situations of Zainichi's homeland, in other words, the final rupture of American-Soviet Joint Commission and the general election alone in South Korea, caused Korean Federation to be splitted in double, forcing it to face inner conflicts related to Japan Communist Party and to inter-Korean(North-South) problem. The Aliens Registration Law, enforced in the ambiguous situation that Zainichi never got ensured which system they would belong to and which position they would take, made them to be in a dilemma: falling down to refugee or choosing nationality of inexisting state. It was the law that made Zainichi both exist and inexist in the country, Japan, hence, 'Zai-nichi' which always involved the possibility of inexistence indicated stateless state, a subtle area 'between' postwar-Japan and Chosun.
Similarly to the rapid development of joint struggle for japanese democratic revolution in 1946~1947, after the plan to build a united state was frustrated, unconditional support movement for North Korea was eagerly proceeded as well. Haebangshinmun tried to establish the relation with North Korea as of nation-state. It was cultural level that the strategy to mobilize Zainichi in the state-construction in response to establishment of North Korea was conducted with the fullest enthusiasm. Haebangshinmun, paying attention to the illiteracy eradication campaign of North Korea, took the lead in Chosun-Language education within Zainichi society. Novels of Lee Eun Jik, who determined, in the middle of a keen confrontation over linguistic problem of Zainichi literature, both writing in Japanese of colonial period and writing in Chosun-Language of after-liberation period as 'life of self-oblivion', were published on Haebangshinmun in Chosun-Language, and they well reveal the transition process of the readers assumed by Chosun-Language literature of Zainichi from 'inner' self to 'homeland'.
