결혼이주여성대상 종결어미‘-네요’의 억양과 화용적 의미 교육에 관한 연구 = A study on the intonation and pragmatic meaning education of the final ending ‘-neyo’ for Marriage migrant women

This study aimed to confirm that to help Marriage migrant womenadapt to Korean society and have a stable life, it is necessary to teachthem pragmatic meaning that changes according to intonation whenteaching the meaning of grammar.
Learning Korean is becoming a very important means for Marriagemigrant women to live stably in Korean society. While textbooksconvey the meaning of grammar in a limited manner, Marriage migrantwomen who frequently come into contact with Korean members areoften exposed to situations in which multiple meanings of grammar areconveyed. Therefore, it was confirmed that it is necessary to teachpragmatic meaning that changes according to intonation in conveyingthe meaning of grammar, and in this paper, I would like to propose adirection for teaching pragmatic meaning according to the intonation ofthe final ending ‘-neo-yo.’Examining previous studies on the intonation of the final ending‘-neo-yo,’ its meaning can be divided into five types: exclamation,simple description, confirmation description, new knowledge, andlament. However, when examining textbooks and teachers’ guideswritten for Marriage migrant women, only the most basic meaning of exclamations is presented, and there is no mention of guidance onintonation or pragmatic meaning. This seems to be because textbooksare processed for educational purposes and therefore have difficultyreflecting all real-life situations. In this paper, we attempted to examinethe pragmatic meaning of the final ending ‘-neo-yo’ by analyzing theintonation reflected in the dialogue in the drama, to see how it conveysa different meaning in real-life situations.
Consequently, the drama conveys various meanings depending onintonation, and in particular, it was confirmed that Marriage migrantwomen need intonation and pragmatic meaning education tocommunicate smoothly with members of Korean society, and the aimwas to suggest a direction for education that can be implemented inthe classroom.
This study aims to examine the necessity of teaching intonation andpragmatic meaning of the final ending ‘-neo-yo’ to Marriage migrantwomen by confirming the difference between the meaning taught intextbooks and the meaning exposed in dramas and suggesting adirection for education. This study is expected to be significant in theeducation of intonation and pragmatic meaning in Korean grammar inthe future.
