비형식교육 참여시간량 측정의 타당성과 신뢰성에 관한 분석

As the interests in systematic management of lifelong education grow, it is increasingly important to collect and analyze the data involved in lifelong education. It is necessary to develop more diverse and reliable data on lifelong education participation. However, it is difficult to collect accurate data on lifelong education participation, especially since non-formal education is not standardized. This study purposes to examine the validity and reliability of measuring the amount of time spent for non-formal education, using the year 2014 data from Korean ‘Lifelong Learning Participation Survey which is the basis of the statistical index on lifelong education in Korea. The results of this study are as follows: First, the survey tool has a structural limit, especially omitting the information on amount of time of participation, which may affect the population statistics. Second, in spite of that, the observational errors could be tolerated at net sample analysis level. Third, the relationship between the participation frequency in non-formal education and the amount of the participation time is relatively low. Fourth, as compared with Korean ‘Time Use Survey’ which is conducted in the same year, the annual average of the amount of participation time in non-formal education from the Korean adult population set is relatively similar. And it is difficult to say that the reliability of the measurement has a problem. Finally, based on the above results, this study discusses the issues related to the improvement of the survey tool, the characteristics of the number of times and the amount of time as a variable related to the participation in non-formal education, and the possibility of the study.
