This paper is to construe the Ki(氣) in Martial Arts as phenomenological perspective. Ki(氣) is very unquestioned but highly important concept in Martial Arts, as well known, power, energy, and so on. But it is argued that explanation and application of Ki(氣) follows differently as their each views. Therefore, we definitely should need to establish the meaning of Ki(氣) to eliminate the ambiguousness applied in Martial Arts. So, I accept the phenomenological understanding to attain this purpose. This should make it possible to comprehend easily Ki(氣), exposing clearly the essence of it showing in Martial Arts. Also, this supplies the chance to understand a wide range of phenomenological concept. The results of this study are as follows: First, Ki(氣) operates in phenomenological field, happening sourceful experience’s field, which connects middle way inseparably of subject and object. Phenomenological field is pre-objective area as original experience’s area. Ki(氣) overcomes the dichotomous paradigm of subject and object. Ki(氣) is neither matter nor consciousness. Ki(氣) shows the sourceful and vivid origins underlining between subject and object. Ki(氣) understands to happen generally in circular situation unseparately each other. It operates in co-relation with my body and world, and within my body. Ki(氣) originally has meanings of information and energy. Ki(氣) operates as both blood-Ki(血氣) and mind-Ki(心氣) within my body. Ki(氣) is not only consciousness and matter, but also simultaneously harmonizing consciousness and matter. Ki(氣) is a critical concept to understand the phenomenological field. Second, Ki(氣) is operating power based on proper body which is organically lived body. The power connects both body and mind, which comes out in unconscious flow in lived body. Body in Martial Arts is not object body(Korper) but lived body(Leid). Body in Eastern philosophy does not divide between body and mind in cultivation system of Martial Arts. Ki(氣) showing in proper body operates as theoretical foundation of endless cultivation in Martial Arts. Proper body has important features of body schema having the practical ability to attain its purpose. And intentional arc including innately intentionality of movement has intention to solve problems of special circumstance and environment. Proper body itself is not I think, but I can. That is, as independent capability to control by proper body depends on Ki(氣), the lived body, that is, proper body, has essentially energy. Third, Ki(氣) is starting point to experience’s reflection. Ki(氣) is type of inner experience we feel ourselves. We have feeling happening in inner movement’s state of my body, in where grasp self-awareness-sensation. In conditions of medium between biological matter and consciousness, Ki(氣) is a kind of psycho-somatic tools to govern the coordination between action and perception. Biological behavior and conscious judgment should harmonize each other. If there are contradictions in previous two relations, we naturally take reflection to search better solutions. One of those harmonious methods, as deferring judgment, it should need to control Ki(氣) expressing of own biological emotion by mediation. Viewing the phenomenological approach, we do not exactly figure out the things as it is. So, definitely to clear the own consciousness needs the phenomenological reduction. As Eastern meaning, it is similar to self-reflection of body. Reflection is supported by own body experience. The thing with phenomenological experience is not representative one. This is embodied experience, by medium of body having extension from sense movement (kinesthesia) to rational judgment, to show self-changing ability. In where, the process of experience operates among various situations of including own intention. Therefore, emotional judgment and action, from Ki(氣) addicted in biological aspect, is likely to be wrong in exact decision. The problem remains how to control the Ki(氣) of biological prospective. In fact, it is hard to accept object as it is without prejudice and emotional judgment. We always need to think that contents of own experience is not exact all. Reflection and phenomenological attitude variants are important instruments to find the essence of things. These concrete methods are able to explain in application process of practical phenomenological attitude’s variant and biological control of Ki(氣). In conclusion, the phenomenological understanding of Ki(氣) in Martial Arts makes it highly easy to figure out the concept of phenomenology. Ki(氣) is basically conceptual grounds to explain genetic phenomenology of first-perspective related phenomenological field. Ki(氣) comes out the energy in proper body itself, when learning and cultivating as body-itself in some way analogous to concept of Eastern body. Ki(氣) is starting point to experience’s reflection. And Ki(氣) needs to control expressing of own biological emotion.
