범부춤의 심층구조와 의미에 대한 화쟁기호학적 해석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리 춤은 우리민족 고유의 미의식과 세계관을 바탕으로 형성되고 향유되어 왔기에 서양의 춤 분석에 바탕을 둔 서양의 이론보다 우리의 정서가 담긴 이론으로 춤의 구조와 미학을 분석하는 것이 훨씬 더 올바르고 좋은 연구가 될 수 있다. 그러나 한국 문화와 예술에 대한 연구들은 주로 한국 예술의 자연미, 소박미, 고전미 등 주로 한국예술의 현상적 특징에 대한 연구가 주를 이루며 한국문화와 예술의 심층구조와 논리에 대한 분석과 탐구를 찾아보기는 어렵다. 이에 본 연구에서는 농경사회였던 우리 민족의 삶에서 자연스럽게 형성되고 향유된 범부춤의 심층적인 구조와 논리를 한국인 고유의 사유체계와 문화로부터 형성된 화쟁기호학을 통해 품, 몸, 짓으로 분석하여 우리 춤 고유 의미적 구조를 파악하였다. 첫째, 품(相)에서 범부춤은 농경사회에서 경험할 수 있는 현실에서 포착하여 이를 동작으로 형상화하여 사실적인 의미로 표현하고 있다. 둘째, 몸(體)은 범부의 입장에서의 범부의 의식을 춤이 생성된 맥락과 연관시켜 얻어낸 해석이다. 이 몸(體)의 실체는 성(聖)과 속(俗)의 일치를 지향하며 범부들이 주체가 되어 행복한 삶을 누리기를 희망하며 지향하는 바는 ‘공동체의 안녕 (安寧)’을 위한 아우름에 있다. 셋째, 짓(用)은 범부춤은 양반과 서민의 대립적 갈등의 해소와 사회통합의 기능의 의미와 봉건사회와 신분질서에 억압된 욕망을 표출하며, 생산과 풍요를 기원한다. 지금까지의 춤에 관한 많은 연구들은 주로 춤 동작에 드러나는 모습을 위주로 보았는데 본 연구에서는 화쟁기호학을 적용하여 춤 동작에 드러나는 모습뿐만 아니라 그 속에 담겨있는 의미와 구조, 그리고 그것이 관객과 만나 실현되는 양상까지 분석하였다. 이러한 연구방법은 연희자 혼자 추는 것이 아니라 관객과 한데 어우러지는 것을 추구하는 한국 춤 분석에 적절하며 그 어우러짐은 짓(用)의 영역에서까지 분석할 수 있었다. 이러한 화쟁기호학적 접근을 통해 집단적 신명을 통해 모든 갈등과 대립을 조화하고 공동체의 안녕을 지향했던 범부춤의 의미와 구조에 대하여 심층적, 총체적 해석을 하며 범부춤의 숨은 의미를 드러내는 동시에 미학적 가치를 추출하였다. 화쟁기호학적 접근을 통한 본 연구가 우리 춤의 뿌리와 그것이 나아가야할 방향을 제시하는데 도움을 줄 것이라 사료된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This project examines the structure of the Bumboo dance, the movement of line and space as two and three-dimensional structure and the structural analysis of the elements of the movements. The purpose of this research is to determine how Korean Hwajaeing semiotic theory, rather than Western theories of dance, helps us understand the aesthetic values and traditional world view of Koreans as expressed in their dance. Drawing from and extending upon the theories of Mi-Sook Kim (1982), Jung-Min Baek (1983), Mi-Sook Jung (1987), Young-Nam Jung (1989), Ji-Yeon Choi (1999), Yoon-Bae Kim (2003), Do-Heum Lee (1995) and Ji-Hyung Cho (2000), this dissertation is the first to take a Hwajaeing semiotics approach to analyze Korean dance specifically in order to understand its own inner system and socio-cultural meaning. Hwajaeing semiotics, which is the Korean system of interpretation that analyzes the structure of traditional arts developed from the foundations of Korean culture, uses the concepts of Pum, Mom, Jit. These concepts are reflected in the uniqueness of the life and ideology of agricultural society. Pum (Appearance)shows aspects of life: procreation, rest before labor and fullness of energy. substance of Mom (Body)the sacred and the secular. Bumboos, the name for the common class of people, are the main characters of the dance. Their dance expresses hope for a life of happiness through the peace of the community which can only happen through harmony between Jung (affection through close relationships in society) and Han (the tragedy and bitterness of life).Jit (function) includes the religious function, the harmony between sacredness and secularity; the social function, the dissolution of conflicts between nobles and the common folk; the function of desire, release of oppressed desire in feudal society; the function of labo, prayer for production and affluence; the recreational function, community catharsis; and the aesthetic function, humor. addition, joy dance sublimates this conflict between affection and bitterness and raises it to humor that brings the balance of life and harmony to the world. is the moment that all conflicts and disappears and is achieved. Through interviews, analysis of video, and live performances, a Hwajaeing semiotics approach was applied, not only to the dance movements but also to the meaning and structure of the dance, as well as the interaction the audience, which is characteristic of Korean folk dance. Within this analysis, the Hwajaeing semiotic approach makes it possible to interpret the specific Korean meanings and aesthetic values of the Bumboo dance which reflects the life and pain of the labor of the villagers of Mil-Yang and its transformation through communal catharsis. Hwajaeing semiotics allows interpretation of Korean cultural expression both modern and traditional that cannot be fully captured by contemporary western theories of aesthetics.
