유협 ≪梁建安王剡山石城寺石像碑≫에 대한 번역과 주석(1) = Translation and Annotation of Liu Xie’s ≪The Stele of the Stone Statue at Shancheng Temple on Mount Shan, Commissioned by Prince Jian’an of Liang≫(1)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

유협의《梁建安王剡山石城寺石像碑》는 제목과 내용이 모두 전해진 유일한 碑文으로, 南北朝 시기 불교가 중국으로 유입되는 과정을 보여주는 중요한 사료이다. 현재까지 문학비평가로서 주목받고 있는 유협의 《文心雕龍》에 관한 연구는 풍부하게 이루어지고 있으나, 《梁建安王剡山石城寺石像碑》에 대한 연구는 국내외적으로 상당히 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본고는 이 비문의 저술 배경과 판본을 고찰하고, 풍부한 주석을 덧붙여 정확한 번역을 시도하고자 한다. 이를 통해 유협이 활동했던 南朝 梁나라 시기의 불교 사상과 石城寺 불상의 조성 과정 그리고 불교와 황실 정치와의 관계를 종합적으로 탐구하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The ≪The Stele of the Stone Statue at Shancheng Temple on Mount Shan, Commissioned by Prince Jian’an of Liang≫ is the only extant stele text whose title and full content have been preserved, serving as a valuable historical source that illustrates the introduction and establishment of Buddhism in China during the Southern and Northern Dynasties. To date, extensive scholarship has been devoted to Liu Xie’s ≪Wenxin Diaolong≫, which has secured his reputation as a literary critic. However, research on the Shicheng Temple Inscription remains quite limited, both in Korea and in China. This study therefore attempts to provide an accurate translation of the stele, supplemented with detailed annotations. By doing so, it becomes possible not only to examine how Liu Xie composed and articulated the stele, but also to gain a more nuanced understanding of the political circumstances and the role of Buddhism in the Liang dynasty during the period in which Liu Xie was active.
