윤동주 시에 나타난 부끄러움과 슬픔의 의미 = A Study on the meaning of shameand sadness in Yun Dong-ju's poetry

국문 초록 (Abstract)

윤동주 시에서 가장 많이 논의된 사항은 부끄러움과 관련된 것이다. 이는 ｢서시｣로 알려진 시편에서부터 확인되는 사항으로, 그런 까닭에 윤동주에 관한 논의는 이를 둘러싼 것이 많았다. 그러나 윤동주의 시 전체 가운데 부끄러움이 중요하게 의미를 띠는 시편은 그다지 많지 않은 한편 연희전문 재학 이후 도쿄 체재 시기에 집중된다. 윤동주 시에 나타나는 부끄러움의 문제는 이것이 괴로움과 슬픔과 함께 나타나며 이것들과 관련된다는 점인데, 이에 대한 해석의 심화를 통해 윤동주 시 연구를 새로이 할 필요가 있다는 판단에서 이 논문은 시작되었다.
윤동주의 시적 사유에 따르면, 부끄러움은 괴로움을 낳고, 부끄러움은 슬픔의 대상이 된다. 부끄러움은 꺼려하고 멀리해야 할 감정인 까닭에 그것이 괴로움을, 곧 고통을 준다는 것은 어느 정도 추측할 수 있다. 그런데 고통은 또 다른 깨침으로 인도한다. 내가 느끼는 고통의 끝이 나의 한계이며 내 앎의 한계이기 때문이다. 내가 아는 만큼, 내가 지식을 쌓는 만큼 세계의 경계가 확장될 수 있으리라는 일상적인 믿음과는 다르게 오히려 내 신체가 느끼는 고통의 한계가 세계의 한계라는 것은 고통을 통해서야 비로소 세계에 대한 온전한 이해가 가능하다는, 그리하여 비로소 나에 대한 온전한 생각에 이를 수 있다는 의미이다. 앎을 통해서가 아니라 괴로움과 슬픔을 통해, 고통과 통증을 통해 새로운 깨침에 이르는 과정을 좀 더 의미 있게 해석할 때 윤동주 시의 의미가 한층 더 깊이를 얻을 수 있다.
이 연구는 윤동주 시에 나타나는 부끄러움과 슬픔과 같은 감정의 양상을 스피노자의 관점에서 도움을 받아 보편적인 차원에서 살필 수 있는 토대를 마련하고자 하였다. 스피노자에 따르면 감정은 수동과 슬픔인데, 이를 능동과 기쁨으로 변화시키는 것이 그의 궁극적인 철학적인 목적이다. 윤동주의 시적 여정 또한 슬픔에서 기쁨으로 변화, 비약이라 할 수 있으니 이에 대한 이해를 좀 더 심화하고자 하는 것이 이 연구의 궁극적인 목적이었다.
윤동주의 시를 부끄러움과 슬픔이라는 관점에서 새로이 살피고자 한 이 논문의 관점은 고통의 해석학이라는 말로 요약된다. 극단의 역사를 거치며 이루어진 20세기 인문학적 인식론의 반성적 성과, 곧 언어학적 전회나 윤리학적 전회에 덧붙여 고통의 해석학을 정립할 수 있으리라는 것, 이것이 윤동주의 시를 오늘의 시점에서 새롭게 읽으며 얻은 결론이다. 이후에 계속될 연구를 통해 윤동주 시에 나타나는 감정 양상을 좀 더 깊이 있게 해석함으로써 여기서 제시한 관점을 검증하고 심화하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The most often discussed topic in Yun Dong-ju’s poetry is shame. This is confirmed from the poem known as “Seo-si(｢서시｣),” and for this reason, many discussions about Yun’s poetry have focused on this. However, there are not many poems in which shame has a significant meaning among all of Yun’s poetry, and they are concentrated on the period of his time in Tokyo after his time at Yeonhee College. The problem with shame in Yun’s poetry is that it appears together with suffering and sadness and is related to these, and this paper began with the judgment that it is necessary to renew the study of Yun’s poetry through a deeper interpretation of this matter. According to Yun’s poetic thinking, shame creates suffering and shame becomes the object of sadness. Since shame is an emotion that should be avoided and kept away, it can be somewhat inferred that it causes suffering, that is, pain. However, suffering leads to another realization. This is because the end of the suffering that I feel is my limit and the limit of my knowledge. Unlike the common belief that the boundaries of the world can be expanded as much as I know and as much as I accumulate knowledge, the fact that the limits of the pain my body feels are the limits of the world means that only through pain can we fully understand the world, and thus, only through pain can we fully think about myself. The meaning of Yun's poetry can be further deepened when we interpret the process of reaching new enlightenment through suffering and sorrow, not through knowledge. This study aimed to establish a foundation for examining the aspects of emotions such as shame and sorrow that appear in Yun's poetry from a universal perspective with the help of Spinoza's perspective. According to Spinoza, emotions are passive and sad, and his ultimate philosophical goal is to change them into active and joyful. Yun's poetic journey can also be said to be a change and leap from sadness to joy, and the ultimate goal of this study was to deepen our understanding of this. The perspective of this paper, which seeks to examine Yun's poetry from a new perspective of shame and sorrow, can be summarized as the hermeneutics of suffering. The hermeneutics of suffering can be established in addition to the reflective achievements of 20th century humanistic epistemology, namely, the linguistic and ethical revolutions, which were achieved through extreme history. This is the conclusion I reached while reading Yun's poetry from a new perspective today. Through continued research, I intend to verify and deepen the perspective presented here by interpreting the aspects of emotion that appear in Yun's poetry more deeply.
