다문화교육의 상호문화적 전환과 어린이철학(PfC)의 교육적 의의 = The Intercultural Reorientation of Multicultural Education: Philosophy for Children (PfC) and Its Educational Significance

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글의 목적은 다문화시대의 변화 속에서 다문화교육을 상호문화적 관점에서 재해석하고, 어린이철학(PfC)의 정당화 근거와 교육적 함의를 밝히는 데 있다. 이동과 문화의 공존, 디지털 환경의 확산은 교육의 재사유를 요구하며, 이에 대한 응답으로 상호문화교육이 강조되어 왔다. 이는 단순한 차이의 인정이 아니라 민주주의와 인권, 상호문화적 대화를 통한 관계 재구성을 지향한다. 다문화교육 역시 평등과 정의를 목표로 전개되어 왔으며, 두 담론은 실천적 차원에서 통약가능성을 지닌다. 그러나 한국 학교 현장에서는 다문화교육이 적응 지원이나 문화 소개 수준에 머무르는 한계가 있다. 이에 본고는 다문화교육의 현실을 분석하고, 이를 상호문화적 대화의 관점에서 심화하며, PfC를 그 관계적 전환을 구현하는 교육 형식으로 제시하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to reinterpret multicultural education from an intercultural perspective and to clarify the justificatory grounds and educational implications of Philosophy for Children (PfC).
Increased mobility, cultural coexistence, and the expansion of digital media call for renewed reflection on education and pedagogy, to which intercultural education has emerged as a significant response. Intercultural education emphasizes not merely the recognition of difference but the reconstruction of relationships through dialogue grounded in democracy and human rights. Although multicultural education has long pursued equality and justice and shares practical common ground with intercultural approaches, in Korean schools it often remains limited to adaptation support or cultural introduction activities.
This study examines these realities through an intercultural lens and proposes PfC not as a supplement to multicultural content but as a dialogical structure that enables the critical examination of assumptions and the reconstruction of relationships through inquiry.
