우리나라 상업교육의 현황과 발전 방안 = Current situation and future development of korean business educartion

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Current Korean business education is based on the 6th Educational Curriculum Rule amended in 1992. The educational objective of business highschool stated at the 6th Educational curriculum rule is providing students to obtain basic knowledge and skill of commerce and management, to foster the ability to be involved in various area and to contribute to the economic development of society.
Complexity of society and economic activity in our life made the education necessary to handle individual commercial and economic problem efficiently. These contents, which were provided through the vocational training, are necessary to be provided to all students according to this necessity, business education has strong characteristics of general education with function of vocational education.
Business education is vocational education focusing on business activity. It has a firm objective. This kind of education with a firm objective is more effective and meaningful when it is offered to the students who choose the program voluntarily. But the problem is that most of students in business highschool did not start their school in willingness.
It will be natural to face dramatical change in vocational education subject to change specialization and advanced informational skill in business activity with improvement of vocational ability is required.
To normalize of business education, revolution of vocational highschool system is essential. The key is to make 5 year's vocational school with junior college programme considering educational demand and educational capacity in each local community. Fostering the basic ability as a practitioner in 3 years' professional program is suggested.
This may reduce the trend of avoidance for the business highschool and produce professional resources for industrial needs.
In the current social and economic environment, the educational program of business education should consider at least 3 aspects. First, individual student's interest must be considered. Second, the social demands must be considered. And third, enhancement in basic business education, informational education and office automation education to meet positively social and economic change should be emphasized.
Hanging on the business highschool system is not enough to keep business education. More business curriculums should be developed as optional courses in general high school. Recognition of importance o business education in general life is the way to survive. The contents of individual financial management should be reflected in business education. This program may enhance the value of business education for general educational purpose.
Forcing to do something they don't want and giving pain them can't go long. We must accept the fault if the volunteer principle does not work. We need to accept the market principle to take advantage to find out the way of survival not to be against of it. The terminology change related to business education is in current trend and thus cannot be rejected. So We need to accept the current various needs in business education.
