Health lifelog data refers to an individual's digital records of
health-related behaviors and experiences in daily life. With the paradigm
shift in healthcare towards preventive treatment and health management in
daily life, the significance of lifelog data has been increasing. However,
due to a lack of utilization and research, the study focused on investigating
the behavior of collecting lifelog data. Through Health Belief Model, the
paper examined whether individuals' health beliefs and attitudes impact the
satisfaction and intention to continue the data collection behavior, which is
the action of monitoring health status through the collection of data.
Additionally, we compared whether the diverse characteristics of lifelog data
obtained from devices result in variations in the relationship based on the
categorization of lifelog data. In the research findings, perceived benefits,
external cues, and self-efficacy were found to have a positive impact on
satisfaction with data collection behavior. On the other hand, perceived
barriers had a negative impact on satisfaction with data collection behavior.
Confirming that satisfaction with data collection behavior positively
influences the intention to continue, the research have established that
among an individual's beliefs and attitudes towards health, perceived
benefits, perceived barriers, external cues, and self-efficacy play a
significant role in influencing the intention to continue data collection
behavior. Furthermore, the research confirmed that there is a statistically
significant difference in the impact of individuals' health and beliefs on
the satisfaction with data collection behavior based on data types. Through
this study, the research confirmed that perceived threat to individual health
does not have an impact on the intention to continue data collection
behavior. Additionally, the need for further research based on the purposes
of data collection was emphasized. The research proposed methods to promote
the continued collection of data by leveraging influential factors identified
through this study. Through this, it was able to suggest directions for the
proactive collection and utilization of lifelog data in the future, in
response to the increasing demand for lifelog data. As the variety of devices
and smartphone applications for collecting lifelog data have increased, there
has been a scarcity of social science research that categorizes lifelog data.
With the expectation that this research could serve as a starting point for
developing the foundation of data collection technology and methods, the
research have presented academic and practical implications, along with the
insights for future research.
