아버지와 유아기 자녀의 거친 신체놀이에 영향을 주는 요인과 의미 탐구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 가정에서 이루어지는 아버지와 유아기 자녀의 거친 신체놀이를 관찰하고, 아버지와 유아기 자녀를 면담하여 아버지와 유아기 자녀의 거친 신체놀이에 영향을 주는 요인과 의미를 탐구하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 통해 ‘아버지와 유아기 자녀의 거친 신체놀이’에 대한 맥락적 이해를 높이고, 긍정적 가치와 중요성을 밝히고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적에 따라 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다.

연구문제 1. 아버지와 유아기 자녀의 거친 신체놀이에 영향을 주는 요인은 무엇인가?
연구문제 2. 아버지와 유아기 자녀의 거친 신체놀이가 주는 의미는 어떠한가?

본 연구는 현재 유아기 자녀를 양육하고 있는 아버지 5인과 그 자녀인 유아를 연구 참여자로 선정하여 2019년 11월부터 2020년 9월까지 참여관찰과 형식적 · 비형식적 면담, 사진 · 영상 촬영, 오디오 녹음, 전화 통화 및 SNS 대화 등의 방법을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 이후 모든 자료는 전사하여 ‘전사, 코딩, 주제 발견’의 과정을 통해 분석하였다. 자료 해석의 타당성을 확보하기 위하여 유아교육 전문가의 검토과정, 연구 참여자인 아버지의 확인을 통한 내부자 검증을 실시하였다.

본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 가정에서 아버지와 유아기 자녀가 거친 신체놀이를 할 때 어떠한 요인에 의해 영향을 받는지 탐구해본 결과 환경적 요인으로는 ‘놀이 공간, 놀이 시간’, 개인적 요인으로는 ‘유아의 놀이성, 유아의 컨디션, 아버지의 놀이성, 자녀가 즐겨보는 애니메이션에 대한 아버지의 관심, 아버지의 피로감’, 관계적 요인으로는 ‘형제자매 간 다툼과 안전사고 발생, 아버지의 적극적인 반응, 거친 신체놀이의 승패, 어머니의 격려와 인정, 어머니의 제지’에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 아버지와 유아기 자녀의 거친 신체놀이가 주는 의미에 대해 탐구해본 결과 아버지와의 거친 신체놀이는 유아기 자녀에게 ‘아버지를 통제해보는 즐거운 시간, 자유로운 상상력 표현의 장, 아버지와 친밀해지는 시간, 놀이기술의 배움터’라는 의미를 주었다. 또한 유아기 자녀와의 거친 신체놀이는 아버지에게 ‘동심으로 돌아간 즐거운 놀이, 자녀와 유대감을 형성하는 시간, 놀이하는 아버지로서의 성장 과정’이라는 의미를 주는 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구를 통해 가정에서 이루어지는 ‘아버지와 유아기 자녀의 거친 신체놀이’에 대한 맥락적이고 심층적인 이해를 높일 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 현재 유아기 자녀를 양육하고 있는 아버지나 예비 아버지들이 자녀와의 거친 신체놀이에 대한 정보를 얻고, 거친 신체놀이와 관련한 아버지 교육 프로그램이 개발되기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to observe the Rough and Tumble Play between fathers and children at home and to explore factors and meanings that affect the Rough and Tumble Play between fathers and children in early childhood by interviewing fathers and children in early childhood. Through this, this study aims to enhance the contextual understanding of the 'Rough and Tumble Play of father and infant children' and to clarify the positive value and importance. The research questions set according to the purpose of this study are as follows.

Research Question 1: What are the factors that affect the Rough and Tumble Play between father and infant child?
Research Question 2: What is the meaning of the Rough and Tumble Play between father and infant child?

This study selected five fathers and their children who are currently raising their children as research participants and collected data through participation observation, formal and informal interviews, photo and video shoots, audio recordings, telephone calls and SNS conversations from November 2019 to September 2020. All data were transcribed and analyzed through the process of 'transcript, coding, and topic discovery'. In order to ensure the validity of the data interpretation, the internal verification was conducted through the review process of early childhood education experts and the confirmation of the father who is the research participant.

The results of this study are as follows.
First, as a result of investigating what factors are affected by the Rough and Tumble Play of father and infant children at home, the environmental factors are 'play space, play time', the personal factors are 'the playfulness of infants, the condition of infants, the playfulness of fathers, the interest of fathers in animations enjoyed by children, the fatigue of fathers', and the relational factors are 'the struggle between brothers and sisters, the occurrence of safety accidents, the father's active response. the victory or defeat of Rough and Tumble Play, the encouragement and recognition of mothers, and the restraint of mothers’.
Second, the Rough and Tumble Play with father gave meaning to children in early childhood as ‘a pleasant time to control their fathers, a place of free imagination expression, a time to be intimate with their fathers, and a learning place of play skills’. And the Rough and Tumble Play with children in early childhood gave meaning to father as ‘a pleasure play back to childhood, a time to bond with children, and a growth process as a playful father’.
This study was able to enhance the contextual and in-depth understanding of the Rough and Tumble Play of father and infant children at home. Therefore, based on the results of this study, it is expected that fathers or pre-fathers who are currently raising their children will get information about the Rough and Tumble Play with their children and develop father education programs related to the Rough and Tumble Play.
