Bowen과 대상관계 이론을 통합한 부모교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과 검증 = (The) development and test of the parents training program integrating the Bowen's theory with the object relation theory

This study set out to develop an integrating parent training program the Bowen's Theory with the Object Relation Theory and to test its effects in order to provide a proper parent training program to those who had difficulty raising their children.
The study consisted of total four parts including an exploration of the Bowenian Family Therapy Model and the ORPT Model to design a parent training program that is good enough, design of a parent training program, operation of the parent training program, and test of the program's effects.
The study set the following research questions:
Research Question 1: What kind of effects does an integrated program between the Bowenian Family Therapy Model and the ORPT Model have on the parents' self-differentiation, self-esteem, communication, and emotional acceptance?
Research Question 2: What kind of effects does an integrated program between the Bowenian Family Therapy Model and the ORPT Model have on conflicts, intimacy and dependence affecting parent-child relationships?
The subjects include a group of parents whose children attended an elementary school located in T City, Gyeongnam Province. After dividing them into the experiment and control group based on the pre-test results, the former participated in the program once a week for eight weeks from September 30 to November 18, 2010 with each session lasting for 180 minutes. After the program application was ended, the experiment group took a post-test.
The research findings were as follows:
First, the effects of the parent training program were tested on parent-child relationships. The results show that the program changed the parent-child relationships of the parents who had difficulty with child rearing in a positive way and reduced parent-child dependence of the subfactors.
Second, the program's effects on parent acceptance were also tested. As a result, the program also changed the parent-child relationships of the parents who had difficulty with child rearing in a positive way and increased the children's acceptance of individual differences and desire for autonomy.
Third, the program's effects on separation-individualization were tested, as well. The results indicate that the program had positive influences on the individualization and symbiosis factor of the parents who had difficulty with child education and caused significant differences both in the individualization and symbiosis factor. That is, the mothers whose object relation levels were high tended to have less fear for sound separation and dependence need and less desire for a close relationship with the object and accordingly generate greater effects for their child rearing acts.
Finally, the program's effects on children's self-esteem were also tested. As a result, the program turned out to increase the self-esteem of the parents who had difficulty with child education.
In short, the integrated parent training program between the Bowenian Family Therapy Model and the ORPT Model, which was designed to provide practical supports to mothers who had difficulty with child issues, induced the mothers to develop an insight into their inner worlds rather than concentrating on their children's problematic behavior and thus was effective with mother-child relationships, parental acceptance, separation-individualization, and self-esteem.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 자녀 양육에 어려움을 겪고 있는 학부모에게 적절한 부모교육 프로그램을 제공하기 위해 Bowen의 가족치료모델과 대상관계부모훈련(ORPT)모델을 통합한 부모훈련 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하였다.
연구 내용은 총 4가지로 첫째, Bowen과 대상관계 이론을 통합한 부모교육 프로그램 설계를 위한 Bowen의 기족치료모델과 대상관계이론 탐색, 둘째, 부모훈련 프로그램 설계, 셋째, 부모훈련 프로그램 운영, 넷째, 부모훈련 프로그램의 효과 검증이다.
연구문제는 다음과 같이 설정하였다.
연구문제1: Bowen의 가족치료모델과 대상관계부모훈련(ORPT)모델을 통합하여 부모훈련 프로그램을 개발한다.
연구문제2: Bowen의 가족치료모델과 대상관계부모훈련(ORPT)모델을 통합한 부모훈련 프로그램이 부모-자녀 관계와 부모 수용, 분리개별화, 자존감 증진에 미치는 효과는 어떠한가?
연구를 위해 경남 T시에 소재하고 있는 초등학교의 학부모를 대상으로 실험집단과 통제집단을 선정하였으며, 사전검사 실시 후 실험집단을 대상으로 2010년 9월 30일부터 11월 18일까지 매주 1회기에 180분씩, 8회기 동안 프로그램을 적용한 후 사후 검사를 실시하였다.
연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 부모-자녀 관계에 대한 부모 훈련 프로그램의 효과를 검증한 결과, 부모훈련 프로그램이 자녀교육에 어려움을 겪는 학부모의 부모-자녀관계를 긍정적으로 변화시키며, 하위요인 중에서는 부모-자녀의 의존성을 낮추는 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 부모 훈련 프로그램이 부모수용에 미치는 효과를 검증한 결과, 부모훈련 프로그램이 자녀교육에 어려움을 겪는 학부모와 자녀의 관계를 긍정적으로 변화시키며, 하위요인 중에서는 자녀 개인차 수용과 자녀의 자율성 욕구 수용도를 높이는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 부모 훈련 프로그램이 분리-개별화에 미치는 효과를 검증한 결과, 부모교육 프로그램이 자녀교육에 어려움을 겪는 부모에게 개별화와 공생 요인 모두에서 긍정적인 효과가 있으며, 하위요인 중에서 개별화와 공생 요인 모두에서 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 즉, 어머니의 대상관계 수준이 높을수록 건강한 분리와 의존욕구에 대한 두려움이 적고 대상과 밀착된 관계로 남고 싶은 욕구가 감소하여 자녀양육 행동의 효과가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.
넷째, 부모 훈련 프로그램이 부모의 자존감에 미치는 효과를 검증한 결과, 부모교육 프로그램이 자녀교육에 어려움을 겪는 부모의 자존감을 높이는 것으로 나타났다.
이러한 결과를 볼 때 자녀문제로 어려움을 겪고 있는 어머니들을 실질적으로 지원하기 위해 설계한 Bowen과 대상관계 이론을 통합한 부모교육 프로그램은 어머니들에게 자녀의 문제행동에 집중하기보다는 자신의 내면을 통찰함으로써 어머니-자녀관계, 부모 수용도, 분리개별화, 자존감에 효과가 있다는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
