고양지역 자연체험활동 프로그램이 초등학생의 환경의식과 태도에 미치는 효과 = Activities Naturural Exprrience of Program Go-yang City Elementary Students' on The Effects of Environmental Consciousness and Attitude

국문 초록 (Abstract)

환경교육에서 주변의 자연환경을 학습의 장으로 활용하는 자연체험활동은 학생들의 호기심을 유발하고 환경감수성을 증진시키므로 최근 강조되고 있는 환경교육 방법이다. 이에 본 연구는 고양지역의 자연환경을 환경교육장으로 활용한 프로그램을 개발하여 자연체험활동을 실시하고, 이 활동이 초등학생들의 환경에 대한 의식과 태도에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다.
자연체험활동은 논 습지 생태계와 봄에 피는 꽃, 숲 생태계, 하천 생태계, 식물의 번식 방법과 조류 관찰, 자연하천의 생김새, 한강하구 습지 생태계, 철새의 생태를 주제로 모두 6차시 분량으로 구성되었다.
이 연구는 경기도 고양시 초등학교 3학년～6학년에 재학하고 있는 37명을 대상으로 자연체험활동을 실시하였으며, 활동을 실시하기 전·후 초등학생들의 환경에 대한 의식과 태도의 변화를 설문조사를 통해 알아보았고 프로그램의 효과를 알아보기 위해 면담내용과 인터넷 게시판의 소감문을 분석하였다.
고양지역의 자연환경을 기반으로 한 자연체험활동 프로그램이 초등학생의 환경의식과 태도에 미치는 효과를 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다.
고양지역의 숲과 하천과 습지를 환경교육장으로 활용하여 개발한 자연체험활동 프로그램을 초등학생들에게 적용해 본 결과 자연놀이는 초등학생들이 가장 흥미로워하는 활동으로, 환경에 대한 감수성을 갖게 하는 데 효과적이었다. 또한 자연체험활동 후 초등학생들의 환경에 대한 태도는 모든 영역에서 긍정적으로 향상되는 것으로 나타났으며, 환경에 대한 의식은 ‘주위 사람과 함께 실천’ 영역에서 긍정적으로 향상되는 것으로 나타났다.
자연체험활동 프로그램을 실시하면서 면담한 내용과 인터넷 게시판에 올라온 소감문을 분석한 결과, 자연체험활동 프로그램이 초등학생들에게 주변의 자연환경을 이해하고 소중한 마음을 갖게 하여 일상생활에서 실천적 태도나 행동에 의미 있는 변화를 보였다.
이와 같은 결과로 보았을 때 주변의 자연환경을 기반으로 한 자연체험활동 프로그램은 초등학생의 환경의식과 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 학교나 사회의 환경교육은 주변의 자연환경을 환경교육장으로 활용한 프로그램을 개발하여 자연체험활동이 이루어지기를 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Natural Experience Activities which make use of natural surroundings as the ground of studying in Environment Education are emphasized recently as a method of environmental education because they lead to students' curiosity and environmental sensibility.
This research aims at developing the program utilizing natural circumstances in Go-yang area as the ground of environment education, performing the Natural Experience Activities based on the program, and inquiring how these activities influence the consciousness and attitude about environment of elementary students.
This thesis is composed of six periods content containing six topics. The first subject is ecosystem of the rice field, second is forest ecosystem, third is ecosystem of rivers, the fourth subject is that how plants reproduce and the shape of natural rivers, fifth is ecosystem of Han River estuary and the final one is searching activities to examine the ecology of migratory birds. This study analyzed interviews and comments posted on the Internet bulletin board from total 37 elementary students in the third grade to sixth in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province to find out effects of Natural Experience Activities, then observed the change of their consciousness and attitude about environmental circumstances before and after Natural Experience Activities.
The result, that how Natural Experience Activities based on the natural environment of Goyang area affect elementary students' environmental awareness and attitude is as follows.
As the result of applying Natural Experience Activities Program made the good use of forest, streams, and marsh in Goyang area as an environmental education field to elementary students, the role-play of 'Nature' was the most interesting activity of all and effective to get sensibility toward natural environment. In addition, it was represented that the elementary students' attitude about environment have reinforced in every field affirmatively after Natural Experience Activities. Consciousness about the environment around him with positive improvements in the area of the practice said.
The result shows that Natural Experience Activities are very helpful for elementary students to realize the importance of natural environment around them and get meaningful changes after analyzing interviews and comments posted on Internet bulletin boards.
As the result of the research, the Natural Experience Activities on the basis of natural circumstances is considered that they affect the elementary students' environmental awareness and attitude in positive way.
Consequently, the Environment Education in a school or a society is expected to be like that: that is, developing programs applied natural circumstances as an environmental education field and activating Natural Experience Activities through those programs.
