누구를 위한 바다의 연결인가?: 한ㆍ일 해저터널 논쟁의 재구성 = For Whom should We Connect the Sea?: Reconstruction of the Historical Controversy over the Validity of the Korea-Japan Undersea Tunnel Project

The core content of this study was to analyze and reconstruct historical origin, past controversies and evidence on the validity of connecting undersea tunnels between Korea and Japan. This study analyzed the problems by reorganizing the issue of connecting Korea-Japan undersea tunnels in terms of form and content. In addition, it was intended to provide another guide to the perception of undersea tunnels between Korea and Japan. To achieve the purpose of the study, this study defined the concept and meaning of the Korea-Japan undersea tunnel project. Furthermore, the historical origin of controversy and the beginning and process of the Korea-Japan undersea tunnel project were summarized. In terms of justification and practical benefit, this study made the following suggestions on the issue of the Korea-Japan Undersea Tunnel. First, the advantages of positivity theory should be maximized, and Korea and Japan should conduct scientific joint verification. Second, the negative theory should be verified in the same way, and there should be discussions to minimize negative effects. Third, there must be an alternative that permanently increases the stability of Korea-Japan relations, and verification must continue in the sense of future development. Fourth, it is necessary to overcome the controversy in Korea and upgrade the agenda through international discourse and interdisciplinary verification in East Asia.
