북한 <공화국 창건 74주년 축하 대공연> 특징과 의미 = The Characteristics and Meanings of the “Grand Show in Commemoration of the Republic’s 74th Anniversary” in North Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzed the characteristics and meanings of the “Grand Show in Commemoration of the Republic’s 74th Anniversary” held on the outdoor stage before the Mansudae Assembly Hall in North Korea on September 9, 2022. Music performances put on the stages of major events can help to estimate the policy directions and intentions of the North Korean regime. Rodong Sinmun publicized the achievements of this grand show where Kim Jong-Un and Lee Seol-ju attended by acclaiming it as “North Korean-style masterpiece.” This show attracts attention because it has been assessed to hold “speculative significance” based on the expressions used by Rodong Sinmun including the “exemplary truth of North Korean-style civilization” and “show as a milestone of North Korea's new literature and art revolution.” The venue of the show is highlighted to hold essential significance as it was mentioned as a “show before the National Assembly Hall in the history of North Korea.” The show content was planned in the order of historical events to reflect the goals of the show from the foundation of the Republic of North Korea through the war and post-war recovery to the Age of Cheonrima and the strong nation of revival. The band was also organized in the joint performance form recently seen at North Korea’s grand shows. The show was differentiated from the shows in the old band form to rearrange the band to commemorate a new decade in the Kim Jong-un era. Two new singers, Jeong Hong-ran and Kim Ryu-gyeong, especially gave a prominent performance with their unconventional stages and arrangements. It is also noteworthy that the old solemn military song-style songs were turned into R&B-style ballads in the vibration technique. The show put an emphasis on “North Korean styles” through the independent transformation of the North Korean music to prevent the ideological relaxation of the new generation according to the influx of external trends.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 지난 2022년 9월 9일 북한 만수대의사당 앞 야외무대에서 개최 된 <공화국창건 74돐 경축 대공연>의 특징과 의미를 분석하였다. 주요 행사 때 개최되는 북한의 음악공연은 북한 정권의 정책 방향과 의도를 가늠해 볼 수 있는 대상이다. 김정은과 리설주가 참석한 이번 대공연에 대해 로동신문은 우 리 식의 대작이라는 표현으로 그 성과를 선전하였다. 이 공연을 주목하는 이유 는 로동신문을 통해 우리식 문명의 본보기적 실체 , 새로운 문학예술혁명의 리 정표를 마련한 공연 등으로 표현하며 사변적 의의 가 있다고 평가했기 때문이 다. 이번 공연 장소는 력사상 처음으로 국가의사당 앞에서 진행되었다 고 언급 할 만큼 핵심적인 의의로 부각하고 있다. 공연의 개최 목적을 반영하듯 북한 공화국수립-전쟁-전후복구-천리마시대–부흥강국 등 역사적 시대순으로 공연 내용을 기획했다. 악단 구성 역시 최근 북한 대공연에서 보이는 합동공연 형식 으로 구성되었다. 김정은 시대 새로운 10년을 시작하는 악단의 재정비라는 차 원에서 이전 악단 형식의 공연과는 차별성이 있다. 특히, 정홍란과 김류경 등 두 신인가수의 파격적인 무대와 편곡이 두드러짐을 알 수 있다. 기존 군가풍의 장엄한 분위기 곡을 바이브레이션 기법을 활용해 알앤비(R&B)풍 발라드로 바 꾼 것도 주목된다. 외부사조 유입에 따른 새세대들의 사상이완을 차단하기 위 해, 북한음악의 주체적 변용을 통해 우리식을 강조하는 것으로 볼 수 있다.
