목은(牧隱) 이색(李穡)의 정정(靜定)과 위육(位育)사상 = Mokeun Yisaek’s Thought of the Establishing the Order in Heaven and Earth and the Realization of All Creature’s Substancial Lifes

Mokeun(牧隱) Yisaek (1328-1396) was a practical Neo-Confucianist who laid the foundation for Choson Taoshueh[道學] through the learning of Neo-Confucianism on the national School of the Yuan Dynasty, the spread of education and the process of ideological practice in Righteous and Solid attitude in Korea. He made Joutuni(周敦頤 1017-1073) his master of private education. Also he had a direct relationship with Suheong (許衡 1209-1281) and Ouyangxuen(歐陽玄1283-1358) representative figures of northern Neo -Confucianism, so he took pride in that school.
Mokkun, who lived in the process of changing the Yuan and Ming, and the Korea and Choson dynasty, saw that people at that time were living a life as if they were running their own way to overturn a cart in the dark. At the same time, he believed that the 『Great Learning』 『Golden Mean』 and 『Yi-jing』 which were written and illuminated by Sages, were brightly shining from the sky and presenting the right direction. He said that the core of these three scriptures were Jìng-dìng[靜定)], Zhōng-hé[中和] Jiè-jù[戒懼] and Jì-rán[寂然], which were the same as the progress in the core position of Confucian self cultivation theory named Jing(敬). From these studies, what Mokeun tried to obtain was the proper road of living in a difficult times from an moral effective point of view, the proper status of heaven and earth as the establishment of order of all things as the realization of all life’s substancial entities. It is a study that is faithful to the fundamentals and is to find creative justice that achieves the best according to the circumstances.
