「虎叱」의 作中人物과 主題에 관한 一考 = A STUDY ON THE CHARACTERS AND THE THEME OF HO-JIL(虎叱)

This study is laid emphasis on the characters and the theme, of Ho-jil(虎叱). After due consideration that in a literature work the character and theme are indispensable, I have tried to limit the theme.
Before proceeding to the main issue, the author of this literature work must be examined closely, for an opinion about the original author of this work is not only variable but also different from grasping the point according that who he is.
I have tried to analyze end grasp the relation of the author, the character and the theme.
As above-mentioned, in my opinions acquired in this study, these are each items classified in summarization as follows;
1. Ho-jil (虎叱) was written by Yeon-Am(燕岩).
2. In rhetoric expressed by predication-construction, there are intonation, ironic, satire. Meng Yong's (猛용) Beum's (범), Buk Kwak's (北郭) and farmer's worlds consist of the relation of continual contrast. Particularly as Beum's (범) and Buk Kwak's (北郭) contrasts cancel each other, other contrasts may be canceled, and composed characteristic fiction and dramatic fiction clements shared with predication-construction.
3. The type of the character from this work is divied into four great part; Meng Yong, Beum (Jang gui concluded), Buk Kwak(Dong ri ja concluded), famer(five sons concluded) Looking into each character,
(1) Mong Yong symbolized the Lord.
(2) Buem symbolizes the solitary forerunner keeping pace with the modernization and wanting to gather the fellow trevollers on participating in social reform.
(3) Jang gui is the dull character whom Beum chooses and the follow traveller, though he doesn't know his essential qualities completely.
(4) Buk kwak is one of typical figure of promodernistic hyphocrisy and hyphocritical scholars stubborned the self in modernistic thought's dawn time against the currant of period.
(5) Dong ri ja is a man become an immediate medium getting rid of Buk kwak types harmful thing.
(6) Five sons are not at first hand but at second hand indicted men being a dull people at first discovered about Buk kwak type's misbehaviour.
(7) Farmer is a prospective man directly indicted about Buk kwak type's misbehaviour.
4. Subject is based on by humanity-recovery and positivism, first of all the sick elements of society climinate at that time in oredr to revoalation and is furthermore based on being indictment, with aim to gather accompanist to participate in modernized social reformation in respect of negative.
Lastly, especially attached thing, the writer had an interest in Beum's and Buk kwak's character through the figure among writing, with the background of snowed fields.
Beum's rebuke gave a suggestion supposing, not to return doing nothing. Setting up the subject, it is focused by fundamental one possessed together society and human being. When we discover the Preston world tendency of subject, Yeon-Am's writing ability can not help thinking in respects of a newly fact.
