This article analyzed the prosecution materials prepared by Ishikawa Nobushige. He was a public prosecutor belonged to Hamheung District Court. The prosecution materials was first disclosed by The Center for Historical Truth and Justice in 2010. This article is the first study about the prosecution materials. The goal is to find out new research tasks through basic theorems of data.
In 1908 ishikawa was appointed to public prosecutor belonged to Japanese Resident-General of Korea. In 1919, while working for the Hamheung District Court, he repressed March First Movement participants. A total of 115 event items are included in prosecution materials. The basic form is divided into three parts, the case title, the content of the indictment, the applicable law and the sentence. What is characteristic here is the third part. In the prosecution stage, it seems that the applicable law and sentence were presented beforehand. Especially sentences written in symbols have been changed. It shows the possibility that the sentence was coordinated at the prosecution stage.
22 of the prosecution materials include various tables in addition to the basic form. Through tables, the level of each participant is classified into 'ringleader / conspirator / executor / instigated person' and confirms whether or not violence is exercised or confession. Also, figures other than the total of 550 indictments listed on the Prosecution Materials List appear in this document. There are 138 names and behavior written on 6 of the prosecution materials for stay of prosecution, interrupting prosecution, and non-prosecution. This will allow us to review the criteria by which Japanese jurisdiction decided on charges and sentences.
The prosecution materials are very intimate data. It would be a material to understand the structure and conduct of the colonial bureaucracy who was trying to punish March First Movement. On the other hand, there is a clear purpose of prosecuting the case, so caution is required to read the materials. Prosecution data is very clear and neatly summarizing the contents of individual cases, The researchers facing these materials should strive to reach the historical truth while keeping in mind the politics of the data.
