중장년층의 외로움이 유튜브 이용동기와 중독에 미치는 영향 = A Study on the Effect of Loneliness on YouTube Usage Motivation and Addiction Among Middle & Older Adults

This study explores the motivation for using media in the middle & older adults, and deals with whether the motivation for using media acts as a mediator in the process of immersion and addiction. Based on the four perspectives of loneliness (psychodynamic, existentialism, cognitivism, and interactionism), the middle & older adults motivation for using YouTube was extracted into four categories: information search, perceived pleasure, social capital, and pursuit of self-realization. For demonstration, 233 middle & older adults YouTube users were surveyed. As a result of the study, the perceived loneliness of the the middle & older adults, had a significant positive(+) effect on the motivation for using YouTube. It was found that the motivation for using YouTube had a positive(+) effect on the intention to actively use it, and it was confirmed that the motivation for using YouTube acts as a mediating variable in the process of immersion and addiction. This study examines whether changes in quality of life, including realistic interpersonal reduction experienced by the middle & older adults, function as existential and creative drivers. The results show that, despite ultimately having a positive effect on the expectations of self-realization, excessive dependence on YouTube cannot overlook the harm that leads to media addiction. This is expected to provide policy and practical implications for finding ways to solve the loneliness problem of the middle-aged in a situation where loneliness is emerging as a social problem.
