중국 유아교사의 다문화통합교육 역량에 관한 일고찰 = A Theoretical Review on Multicultural Integrative Education Competences of Chinese Kindergarten Teachers

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 이론적 고찰을 통해 중국 유아교사의 다문화통합교육 역량의 구성 요인을 탐색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 다문화교육 관련 중국 내･외 관련 연구를 중심으로, 중국 다문화교육의 기조와 유아 다문화교육을 위한 교사 역량에 대한 제안을 살펴보고 교사 역량의 구성 요인을 정리하였다. 본 연구에서 고찰한 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다민족 국가인 중국에서 다문화교육은 민족교육의 큰 틀 안에서 다원성과 일체성을 변증법적으로 통합하는 다문화통합교육의 기조를 지닌다. 둘째, 유아 다문화통합교육의 목표 및 핵심 내용은 국가수준 교육과정 관련 문서에 명시되어 있으나, 이를 실행할 교사의 역량에 관해서는 구체화 되거나 공식화된 입장이 부족한 상황이다. 셋째, 문헌 고찰에 근거하여 중국 유아교사의 다문화통합교육 역량은 지식, 기술, 태도의 세 영역과 아홉 개 요인으로 구성될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 유아교사가 갖추어야 할 지식 역량에는 다문화교육의 패러다임에 대한 이해, 중국의 다문화통합교육에 대한 개념적 이해, 민족 집단에 대한 역사적･문화적 지식 요인이 포함될 수 있으며, 태도 역량에는 주체민족과 소수민족 문화에 대한 우호적 태도, 문화 다양성에 대한 존중, 평등하고 공정한 자세 요인이 해당될 수 있음을 제시하였다. 그리고 중국 유아 다문화통합교육을 수행하는 데 필요한 교사의 기술 역량은 유아에게 적합한 다문화통합교육과정의 개발 및 수행, 다양한 문화적 상황에서의 의사소통, 교육 환경에 대한 성찰 및 개선의 세 요인이 포함될 수 있음을 제시하였다. 이러한 연구내용을 바탕으로, 중국 유아교사의 다문화통합교육 역량을 함양하기 위해서는 정책적, 체계적 교사 연수가 이루어질 필요가 있음을 피력하였다. 나아가, 본 연구에서 제시한 중국 유아교사의 다문화통합교육 역량의 구성요인에 대한 실증적 타당성 검증과 교사 스스로 자신의 역량을 평가할 수 있는 척도 개발 등을 후속 과제로 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to explore the components of Chinese early childhood teachers’ competencies in multicultural integrative education through a theoretical review. To this end, relevant domestic and international research on multicultural education was examined, focusing on the fundamental principles of multicultural education in China and proposals for early childhood teachers’ competencies. Based on this review, key competency factors were identified. The main findings are as follows. First, in China—a multiethnic nation—multicultural education is anchored in “multicultural integrative education,” which emphasizes balancing diversity and unity within the broader framework of ethnic education. Second, although the goals and core content of early childhood multicultural integrative education are outlined in national-level curriculum documents, there is a lack of concrete or officially established guidelines regarding the specific competencies required of teachers. Third, teachers’ competencies for multicultural integrative education can be categorized into three domains—knowledge, skills, and attitudes—encompassing nine distinct factors. Regarding knowledge competencies, these include understanding the paradigm of multicultural education, having a conceptual grasp of China’s multicultural integrative education, and possessing historical and cultural knowledge of various ethnic groups. Attitudinal competencies involve fostering a positive stance toward both the majority and minority cultures, showing respect for cultural diversity, and maintaining equitable and fair perspectives. Meanwhile, skills-based competencies encompass the design and implementation of developmentally appropriate multicultural integrative curricula, communication in diverse cultural contexts, and the ability to reflect on and improve the educational environment. Building on these findings, this study highlights the necessity of professional development for early childhood teachers to enhance their multicultural integrative education competencies and discusses future research directions, including the empirical validation of the proposed competency factors and the development of assessment scales.
