개혁주의 선교신학 관점에서 본 로잔운동 고찰과 적용 = A Study on the Lausanne Movement from the Perspective in Reformed Mission Theology and Its Application

국문 초록 (Abstract)

로잔운동은 1974년 WCC의 신학적 자유주의 허용과 종교 다원주의와 혼합주의를 포용하는 것에 대항해 복음주의권 내의 미국의 빌리 그래함과 영국의 존 스토트 등을 통 해 일어난 세계적인 복음전도 운동(Movement)이다. 오랫동안 종교개혁자들의 선교의식이 결여되었다고 하지만 칼빈과 함께한 개혁자 들의 선교관은 ‘선교적 관점’(Missional perspective)에서의 선교가 아니라 ‘종교개혁의 관 점’(Reformational perspective)에서 선교를 이해하고 실천했다는 것은 분명한 사실이며 지금까지 그 개혁주의적 선교신학을 이어받고 있다. 19세기와 20세기 초 선교신학계는 기독교의 확산을 식민지 제국주의와 함께했다는 비판과 반성으로 시작했다. 당시 타민족에 대한 문화 인류학적 이해와 대위임령에 대한 성경해석학의 올바른 해석을 통해 인종차별, 문화 식민주의, 제국주의 등의 잘못과 반성 으로 1910년 에딘버러에서 국제 선교대회가 낙관적인 분위기 속에서 열렸다. 그러나 지나 친 연합과 교리적인 포괄주의 탓에 진정으로 합의된 선교신학적 문서를 도출하지 못한 것은 이후 분열의 씨앗을 남겼다는 평을 받았다. 1952년 IMC에서 주장한 요하네스 후켄다이크에 의해 주도된 ‘하나님의 선 교’(Missio Dei)가 선교의 중심 주제였던 기존의 ‘교회-중심적 선교’(ecclesio-centric mission)를 ‘세상-중심적 선교’(world-centric mission)로 선교적 세계관의 패러다임을 하 나님이 선교의 주체이며, 선교의 중심은 세상이고, 교회는 선교의 도구이며 세상의 ‘샬 롬’(Shalom)을 목적으로 했다. IMC가 WCC로 종속된 이후 ‘인간화’(humanization), ‘오늘 의 구원’(salvation today), 모라토리움(mission moratorium)을 선교의 주제로 삼고 종교 혼합과 다원주의로 나아갔다. 이에 로잔운동은 WCC의 에큐메니컬에 대항해 일어난 운동이다. 로잔운동은 성경 의 정확무오성, 삼위일체 하나님의 주권능력과 예수 그리스도의 유일성, 구속, 언약사상과 웨스트민스트 신앙고백서 등을 기반으로 시작했다. 그리고 당시 시대적 상황인 세속화, 포스트모던 사조, 진보적인 급진적 성향의 신학, 제국주의적 선교의 반성과 비판적 성찰 과 선교의 모라토리움 속에서 열렸다. 로잔운동의 사회적 책임과 봉사의 강조는 대회가 지속되면서 선교의 영역과 정의 를 다변성, 다중적, 다원적 상황으로 확대하여 본질을 흐리게 했다. 이는 연합을 강조한 나머지 각국의 신학의 다국적과 다양성을 받아들임으로써 개혁주의 선교적 관점을 모호 하게 만들었다. 이에 연구자는 개혁주의 선교신학 관점에서 본 로잔운동의 고찰과 적용을 통해 복음 전도의 우선주의와 총체주의가 무엇을 주장하는지를 연구하고자 한다.

A Study on the Lausanne Movement from the Perspective in Reformed Mission Theology and Its Application

The Lausanne Movement, initiated in 1974 by evangelical leaders such as Billy Graham and John Stott, it emerged as a global evangelistic movement countering the World Council of Churches(WCC) acceptance of theological liberalism, religious pluralism and syncretism.
While it is often argued that the Reformers lacked a missionary consciousness it is evident that Calvin and his fellow Reformers approached mission from a ‘Reformational perspective’ rather than a ‘Missional perspective’ This approach continues to influence reformed missiology today.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries missiology faced critiques for aligning Christian expansion with colonial imperialism. This led to reflections on cultural anthropology and biblical hermeneutics concerning the Great Commission, addressing issues like racism, cultural colonialism, and imperialism. The 1910 Edinburgh Missionary Conference convened in an optimistic atmosphere but due to excessive ecumenism and doctrinal inclusivism it failed to produce a unified missiological statement which led to division.
In 1952, the International Missionary Council(IMC), influenced by Johannes Hoekendijk, introduced the concept of ‘Missio Dei’ shifting the focus from ‘ecclesio-centric mission’ to ‘world-centric mission’ This paradigm viewed God as the essence of mission, with the world as its focus and the church as an instrument aiming for the world’s ‘shalom’ After the IMC subordinated to the WCC, themes like ‘humanization,’ ‘salvation today,’ and ‘mission moratorium’ became central which lead toward religious syncretism and pluralism.
The Lausanne Movement arose as in opposition to the ecumenical movement of the WCC. Lausanne Movement is emphasizing the essence of evangelism and the authority of Scripture within the evangelical community. It was founded on the inerrancy of Scripture, the sovereignty of the Triune God, the uniqueness of Jesus Christ, redemption of covenant theology and the Westminster Confession of Faith. The movement convened amidst the secularization, postmodernism, progressive radical theological tendencies and reflections and critical evaluations of imperialistic missions, and moratorium on missions.
As the Lausanne Movement progressed its emphasis on social responsibility and its service expanded the scope and definition of mission into diverse, multifaceted and pluralistic contexts potentially diluting its core essence. This broad acceptance of various theological perspectives from different nations in the pursuit of unity has at times obscured the Reformed missiological worldview. Therefore the aim of this paper is to study what the prioritism and holism of evangelism through a study on the Lausanne Movement from the perspective in reformed mission theology and its application.
