사회비판적 음악교육론에 관한 연구 : 아도르노의 시각을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1930년 대 Frankfurt 학파를 중심으로 한 사회비판이론은 제2차 세계대전을 겪으면서 나타난 인간성의 황폐화를 지적하면서 등장하고 있다. 사회비판이론을 제기한 Frankfurt 학파의 Adorno는 현대사회의 병리 현상을 「인간의 소외현상」 「자아정체성의 상실」「이성의 도구화」라고 규정하고 있다. 이 세 가지 상황들이 서로 복합적으로 작용하면서 현대사회에는 여러 가지 병리현상을 심화시키고 있다. Adorno에 의하면 이러한 병리현상을 개선하는 데는 다음 두 가지 기능이 필요하다고 보았다.
첫째는 이성의 비판적 기능을 회복시키는 것이다. Adorno에 의하면 현대사회에서의 철학은 사회발전과정에서 발생하는 모든 사회병리현상의 근원을 지적하고 이 근원의 근원적인 예방을 위한 사회비판적 기능을 수행해야 한다는 것이다. 이러한 철학의 비판적 기능을 회복하기 위해서는 먼저 인간이성의 비판적 기능을 회복하는 역할을 음악이 수행하여야 한다.
둘째는 그렇기 때문에 현대사회에서의 병리현상 속에서 이성이 도구화되고 비판적․성찰적 기능을 회복하기 위해서는 사회비판적 음악교육이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 사회비판적 기능으로서의 음악교육론의 사상적배경, 그리고 특징과 구조를 분석하고 그 방법론을 고찰하였다.
Adorno에 있어서 사회비판적 음악교육론은 현대사회에서의 병리현상을 개선하는 치유적 성격을 갖는다고 본다 . 음악의 사회비판적 기능을 고양시키기 위한 음악교육의 주요기능은 인간의 사회비판적 의식을 통해 인간성을 고양시키고 사회와 그속에 내재되어 있는 문화적 동인 속에 자신을 침잠 시킬 수 있는 사상의 정립과 그 교육과정을 발전시키는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 음악의 사회적 기능이 바람직한 교육적 모델로 완성되기 위해서 음악교육은 철저한 자기반성과 사회적 관련성과의 인식을 새롭게 해야한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The points of Adorno's sociocritical music education is not to reform the pathological phenomena in modern society through radical revolution but to improve the society gradually through radical revolution but to improve the society gradually through music education. The purpose of this thesis is to reformulate a direction and an objective of music education, which would be possible through the practice of Adorno's sociocritical music education. From the researcher's point of view, the social function of music was originated from Adorno's sociocritical music theory which enables to recover the human ration. The researcher thought that to realize desirable music education listed above could be the tool for practicing the theses which were sought by Adorno a half century ago and reached the following conclusion.
First, the pathologic situations such as 'the alienation of human beings'. 'the erosion of ration' and 'the self-destruction of humanity' in the modern society are caused because music is performed with implemental function which makes human beings into materials under the system of modern capitalism. Thus, we should change immediately the materialized spirit, which exist in the base of human nature under this capitalistic system, into the humanized spiritual beings with aesthetic and artistic emotions through sociocritical music education.
Second, the pathological phenomena in human society proposed by Adorno might be overcome by developing diverse music such as various races' traditional music, classical music and popular music harmoniously. The principle of comprehensive music education promoted by Ronald B. Thomos corresponds to the principle of Adorno's sociocritical music education in ideology; it might be an ideological base of music education which enables to recover the bumanity beyond the wall of race and ideology.
It is the central idelolgy, which Adorno's sociocritical music education theory aims for, to maintain human sense and ration in balance harmonizing traditional art music, modern music and popular music. Yet, Adorno's sociocritical music, education theory doesn't intend to graft tradition and modern simply in that it needs to perform social function of awareness reformation. In other word, it cannot be said that all various genre of music enables social pathologic situations of human beings to be overcome. Therefore, a task for Korean music education is to prepare penetrating frame of references of educational philosophy, and to develop scientific and systematic teaching method based on it.
Music should be able to perform the reformation of awareness naturally from the functional perception of Adorno's sociocritical music education theory. That's why a graft to traditional music, which regards the burst of buman internal desire as natural, cannot be easily realized. Thus, a task for Korean music education in modern society is to make an ideological unification through Adorno's sociocritical music education theory, to formulate an academic system about it and to try to graft tradition and modern, high-class and popular music as a practical task. It also has an important meaning in establishing identity of Korean music education which the academic world of Korean music education bears.
