This study came to the conclusion that the 'weight factor' and the 'satisfaction factor' decide the capabilities of a tour commentator, and these factors tend to make much difference according to the tour purposes and nationalities of overseas tour groups. This study investigated with tour groups who have different characters, i.e. which factors of tour commentator are considered as important and how much tour groups are satisfied with each factor, when various factors of tour commentators are taken as variables for the investigation.
Summarizing the study, the 'weight factor' , which was taken as our first hypothesis, was formed as the reliability factor to tour groups as follows; (Ist element) the value and reliability of commentaries, (2nd element) the timing and speed of commentaries, (3rd element) the selection and response of commentaries, and (4th element) the commentator' s personality As a consequence of the 'weight factor' survey, the variables that comprise of the 1st element was ranked higher, and cultural tourists placed more importance on the 1st element and the 3rd element than leisure tourists, while the variables of the 2nd element and the 4th element showed the opposite result.
The analysis of tour groups by nationality does not show any particular differences between the 2nd element and the 4th element, but Japanese tour groups touring overseas tend to place more importance on the 1st element and the 3rd element than Korean tour groups.
The study with the 'satisfaction factor' , which was selected as our 2nd subject, however, showed an alternate situation, with the result that the high-ranked element (Ist element in particular) in the 'weight factor' was ranked lower, but the lower-ranked element (4th element in particular) positioned comparatively higher. Relative to tour commentary elements, the satisfaction level analysis of tour groups by nationality does not show much difference between the 2nd element and the 4th element, but Japanese tour groups tend to be less content than Korean tour groups in the 1 st element and the 3rd element.
From this survey result, it can be concluded that tourists consider the basic factors of tourism as important, such as what tourists actually learn, whether the commentaries attract tourists' interests, whether the commentaries satisfy tourists' needs, and whether the commentaries are correct and explicit, and the like, while the tour commentators do not tend to meet the needs and expectations of the tourists.
In particular, the cultural tourists feel unsatisfied, and the Japanese tourists evaluate their satisfaction level much lower than Korean tourists, from which we can tell that it is urgent to set up systematic training programs for tour commentators, and to strengthen training for them as well.
The tour commentators are not regarded as tour guides or interpretation guides.
However, tour guides may be carrying out the duties of tour commentators, if they are capable of tour commentaries. In this respect, such qualified tour guides are actually performing the duties that facilitate the travel itinerary, that execute the guidance and interpretation, and that perform the tour commentators' roles as well.
By doing so, tour guides develop their tour resources with unlimited values, either tangible or intangible, into specialized commodities that are low-cost, high-efficient, and competitive, as well as demonstrating their values as their tour resources.
The tour objects are, of course, tour resources. Since tour resources are founded upon the structural understandings of societies, cultures, and arts in wide ranges, misunderstandings or incorrect understandings relative to the tour resources can bring about reducing the satisfaction level of tourists, or can cause recognizing or accepting the local cultures in the wrong direction. In this respect, the capabilities of tour commentators become more important.
