노사(蘆沙) 문인 최숙민(崔琡民)의 현실인식과 대응양상 = Nosa (蘆沙) Scholar, Choi Suk Min(崔琡民)`s Realization of Reality and His Aspect of Response to It

In the latter era of Chosen Dynasty, in each village of the southern area of Gyungnam, Namin party((南人) and Noron Party(老論) were formed, and although they were in antagonistic relationship, they would frequently carry out their mutual exchange. They responded to the social change of that period variously in the aspect of factions and schools. A member of Nosa school(蘆沙學派) of Noron party, Choi Suk Min, showed one of such aspects. Holding fast the view of expulsion of foreign culture, Wijungchuksa(衛正斥邪), Choi Suk Min had a leading role in expressing the opposite perspective against the phenomenon of foreign invasion and destruction of existing order. He showed a very positive attitude towards Euibyong(義兵), but he did not participated in it actively. Nosa Scholar, Choi Suk Min tried to pass down his master`s learning and spread it to the juniors. He was involved in the publication of Nosajip and participated in edition. In the theoretical aspect, he followed his master, emphasizing Juriron(主理論). Grown up in the central part of Nammyong school(南冥學派), Choi Suk Min was interested in the issue of succession of Nammyong school, in accordance with his family tradition. He was deeply involved in the edition of Nammyoungjip, and made an effort to spread Nammyong`s learning to others, recalling his learning and spirit of practice. Choi Suk Min was broadly associated with scholars in the area of Yongnam as well as persons of Noron party in the areas of Homam and Gyonggi. However, he had a broad association with Namin. As a member of Namin family, he was under the Nosa school, but he did not seem completely independent from Namin`s view point. Due to such view point, while he was taking part in Nosa school, he could not help being very careful of accepting academic theories an other issues.
